Shade of Red 09-25-04, 01:29 AM	Ok, I have a what i think would be a fun RP Idea but have no clue really how to make a good build out of it... I want to make a "weakling" type caster that has someone/something fight for him... So like a sorc/wiz with a REALLY good familiar (doubtful) or what i am leaning to now of a Druid with a nifty animal companion... Emphasis on buffing my cohort whatever it may be and keeping myself out of battle...and as much battlefield control as possible... Right now the only idea i have is to go druid 20 or a sorc of some sort with leadership... Also its only a 2 person group...so vast range of abilities preferable Any Ideas on builds? Starting at 1st level so survivability a must... Rolled stats that are 18, 18, 16, 14, 14, 12... books Available CORE, FRCS, BoED, RoF, CW, UA, OA, MoTW (aswell as most other splat books excluding tome and blood) and any other official material that can be found online. Zagumus 09-25-04, 02:23 AM	Arcane trickster build is what I think would be good. Fill the rogue and arcanist roles at the same time or Mystic Thergue. With a 2 player party I would recomend the Arcane Trickster for you and Cleric for the other player (Kord: strength and Luck). Check out the FAQ for biuld that will work for you.
Funny Slaughter 09-25-04, 07:07 AM	hmm, somebody read dragonlance for the first time i guess :) (raistlin and caramon majere) i would go with a classic wizard/sorcerer+cohort-build. as the caster is kind of unimporatnt for this idea lets focus on the cohort. some kind of reach-weapon using fighter is optimal in this case, feats like standstill and/or trip work wonders. you can take a look here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=309092) for a highly optimized tripper/caster-killer. if you want to focus more on the bodyguard-scheme it would be a good idea to add two levels of devoted defender to get some direct protection. combat reflexes need to be worked into the build, maybe look out for a PrC different to runescarred berserk that give a more flexible feat-layout. the good news are that he can protect you when you are directyl attacked, the bad news are that you have to stand near him (speak on the frontline) to get this work. as you can see reach is very important then, and you can still hide behind your buddy. gs Funny
SolitudeSeraph 09-25-04, 08:02 AM	If you can use FRCS stuff...go Sorc/Zhentarim Skymage (lets you get an animal with it's hd equal to your cha + skymage level + 1..it's a 5 level PrC and you get some pretty decent stuff along with it) Skymage is from Lords of Darkness (a FR book) I made a gnome illusionist (wiz/skymage..didn't get the cha synergy but oh well) that eventually got a shadow dragon to ride :D
