Need ideas for a build..

Level 30, base races (or at least no LA), preferably stick to Core, Completes, and BOED/BOVD. Must be allowed to be chaotic good (DM is allowing CG druid), preferably primarily spellcaster, preferably both divine and arcane spellcasting.

Right now I'm thinking of doing something along the lines of:

5 Druid
5 Wizard
10 Arcane Heirophant
5 Archmage
5 Mystic Theurge

... something like Druid 3/Wizard 3/Mystic Theurge 10/Arcane Hierophant 10/some nifty spellcasting prestige class (for instance, something with extra domains) or Archmage 4 might be even better.

This gives you something like CL 23/27 spellcasting. If you can use the theurgic feats from Dragon (#325, I believe), it might become even more powerful. There is one that lets you pool together caster levels for both classes for a subset of your spells (CL 50!), another that lets you prepare spells from either list for both classes, and some that stacks levels for determining companion/familiar strengths. Paired with the companion familiar AH feature and possibly the Obtain Familiar feat from Complete Arcane your companion familiar could match a 30th-level Wizard/Druid... or so I believe. Your wildshape will be as for a 13th-level druid. The Natural Spell feat allows you spellcasting when wildshaped.

Of course, your original idea is not bad either. :)

Don't you lose the ability to choose epic feats unless you continue above level 10 in a prestige class or above level 20 in a base class?

Pfah. Spellcasting is for feebs. ;)

But seriously, why not take hideous advantage of those thirty levels with a
LG or LN Druid 5/MOMF 10/Warshaper 5/Nature's Warrior 5/Monk 5?

Give it Vow of poverty, and you're good to go. :smirk:

While this isn't a bad build, it does really depart from your initial idea.

Still, it'd be a very nasty melee customer, and with over 13-odd uses of wildshape a day, each lasting for up to ten hors a piece, and each allowing multiple forms in the duration, this is one 'shaping fool.

Shifter's speech overcomes the language barrier, and with the ability to shape into pretty much anything, except undead...

Immune to criticals. Built in fast healing. Damage Reduction, wisdom to ac, natural armor bonuses,

These are just some of the pluses of the above build. Unfortunately you never get over Caster level 7 :D

Zeroeffect: IIRC the ELH states that you are an epic character if your character level (sum of class levels) is above 20. Epic feats are available to epic characters. It may be, however, that bonus feats from a limited list for a class (say Wizard bonus feats) can only be taken from the epic bonus feat list of that class if you have epic (20+/10+) levels in that particular class.

I may be wrong, though.

When you have 21 HD you may take an epic feat that level.

When you progress a class (or Prestige Class with 10+ levels) beyond it's non-epic bounds, then you gain a bonus feat every so many levels depending on a variety of elements (never more often than 3 levels and very rarely less often than 5).

EDIT: Oh, a suggestion.

Bard 30

Improved Spell Capacity x3, Epic Spellcasting, Lasting Inspiration, Inspire Excellence, Epic Inspiration

If you want, you can swap out 6 levels of Bard for 6 levels of War Chanter. This costs two feats, however, so drop Inspire Excellence and Epic Inspiration.

... of course go Druid/Bard/Arcane Hierophant/Fochlucan Lyrist (complete adventurer)/Green Whisperer (Dragon something or other). Probably you need another class somewhere in there to get Evasion as well.

This would make you a Charisma/Wisdom spellcaster. All three above PrCs give dual caster progression (that is 25 levels free of spellcasting if you take them all), Fochlucan Lyrist also other weird things and good combat proficiency. I believe GW and FL both aid bard songs and knowledge, and again the theurgic feats in Dragon #325 are applicable.

Check out some of the Fochlucan Lyrist suggestions on the forum, I believe they are linked from one of the stickies.

The Fire Hose of Magic:

Start with any Wizard build. I recommend Incantatrix, because it gives you extra metamagic feats, and because it is just a good all-around PrC:

Still Spell
Silent Spell
Quicken Spell
Improved Spell Capacity x5
Innate Spell: Mordenkainen's Lucubration

Ok, so here is what this does: Innate spell lets you cast the spell once per round for free. This means that you can use Mord's Luc to remeber every 1-5th level spell that you cast during the day, as many times as you want, all day. Because the wording on ML is such that you can remember ANY spell you cast in the last day, cast all your 5th level spells before bed time. In the morning, learn new 5th level spells, AND remember all the spells that you cast the night before. That night, cast all the 5th level spells you have memorized from the last two days, rinse and repeat. This way you can have ALL the 5th level spells you know (including all lower level spell effects with metamagic applied).

In effect you can now cast all your 1-5th level spells an unlimited number of times per day, every day.

Hand your DM a box of tissues, he's going to need it.

I suggest an epic progression for arcane heirophant. druid3/wizard3/MT4/arcane heirophant20 would be great. All you need to do is continue to stack wildshape, companion bonuses and caster levels plus throw in a few epic feats to create the epic arcane hierophant.

For no apparent reason I've been working on a 30 level Arcane caster lately.

Wiz 10, Incantrix 20

Epic feats
21 Enhanced Spell
23 bf-Multispell
24 Improved Spell Cap (10)
26 bf-Improved Spell Cap (11)
27 Improved Spell Cap (12)
29 bf-Improved MetaMagic
30 Improved MetaMagic

gives you a -3 to the Metamagic level modifiers since Incantrix 10 gives you ImpMetaMagic also. Which helps you conserve charges when you MetaMagic Spelltrigger your staffs.
