Groo? Do you mean "grue," or is this something else?

You should take a shot at it yourself if you want us to contribute.

Groo, the silly comic hero who mistakenly slays everything in sight, would probably be either a rage build or a TWF build (or even a combination of the two).

1. Do a search for frenzied berserker and dervish builds on this board.

2. Find the one that does the most damage possible.

3. You have Groo.

Not a particulary difficult concept to optimize, and certainly something that has been done a hundred times before. He's human. He has extremely low intelligence and wisdom, allowing you to dump all your points into strength.

Cool, when i get home i'll take a stab at it with the books i have (core books and complete warrior). :D

Was interested to see if anyone was keen to have a go is all. I've seen a couple of posts mention frenzied bezerker but when i searched for it got lotsa bump that refers to the class without any serious full builds.

And yeah, for those that dont know, Groo was a cartoon barbarian 'hero', dumb as a post but lethal, terminally accident prone, who weilds what i assume is a pair of katanas with legendary skill. The cartoon was created by Sergio Aragonés and was great fun. :)

Not too many people are very keen on that idea, I suppose. They just want the experts to do it for them.

Also, why is the TB version of True Necromancer used instead of the CD version?

But yes, definitely sounds like a Frenzied Berserker.

Here's my shot at it. He's a two-weapon fighter who wears light armor. Ranger 6 for improved weapon style. Favored enemy should be human. Horizon Walker 1 for the immunity to fatigue. Fighter 2 for the feats.

Barbarian 1/ Fighter 2/ Ranger 6/ Horizon Walker 1/ Frenzied Berserker 10

Character level - 11
No more that 3 classes

Given these restrictions about the best I can think of is....

Human
Fighter 2 / Barbarian 4 / Frenzied Berserker 5

H: Power Attack
F1: Cleave
1: Intimidating Rage
F2: Improved Bullrush
3: Destructive Rage
6: Shock Trooper
9: Great Cleave

Use a greatsword (or similar). Charge w. deathless frenzy + rage + max powerattack (+33 damage, -11 AC [shock trooper]).

Without access to Faerun, UA and Races of Stone that's the best I can do. With those three books you can add extra scary things into the build.

If you can get access to those books you want something like...

Human
Fighter 4 / Barbarian (Wolf Totem) 2 / Frenzied Berserker 5

H: Jorgunbroud (can't remember the spelling)
F1: Power Attack
1: Intimidating Rage
F2: Cleave
3: Destructive Rage
F4: Improved Bullrush
6: Shock Trooper
B2: Improved Trip
9: Knockback

Then you can charge, do +33 damage, then knockback, then (assuming you hit them into someone) trip both people, then attack both people.
Then all you need is Pounce....
.... item with Lion's charge spell in it.

Just read the Ronin and it seems a rather powerful two level dip class.

Unfortunatly this character seems restricted to three classes and 11 levels. Improved power attack from FB is better than Banzai charge when combined with Shock Trooper.

If he can take more classes later then get EWP(Bastard Sword) at lvl 12 then go into Ronin for +(4 x BAB) damage on a charge. Then again, you could get the same benefit at less penalty from just finishing Frenzied Berserker, which would take 2 more levels. Maybe take Ronin after FB is complete.
Fght 4 / Barb 2 / FB 10 / Ronin 2 / Exotic Weapon Master 2
Then you can Trip with a Bastard Sword and do Strength x2 damage when wielding it, in addition to all the other crazy charging stuff.

-40 AC +100 damage on a charge :D

just so everyone knows:

Groo is a 2weapon fighter, uses 2 katanas

wears virtually no armor

must have Whirlwind attack

i think LordKiwi is close with his Fighter 2 / Barbarian 4 / Frenzied Berserker 5

but the feats are wrong

still, looks good if you make the adjustments :D

The problem being that neither Whirlwind Attack, TWF or Frenzied Berzerker stack optimaly. Also you need far too many feats to squeeze into 11 levels. Still, how about...

Fighter 6 / Barbarian 5
H: Power Attack
F1: Cleave
1: Dodge
F2: Mobility
3: Spring Attack
F4: Combat Expertise
6: EWP: Bastard Sword
F6: Two Weapon Fighting
9: Whirlwind Attack

Whirlwind attack is also sub-optimal when used with TWF and TWF with two normal weapons (not light) suffers further still.

This seems to be the build for the concept but it's not great. Better build would possably be a Barbarian/Fighter/Dervish, but maybe not even then.
