I was wondering if you could Build my rogue so it can be pretty effective with the Arcane Archer PrC. Looking for RogueX/wizard3. I figure wizard 3 would be nice for the 2nd lvl spells. Keeping that in mind I hope you wonderful people can figure something out.

Stats:

str 15
dex 20
con 14
int 17
wis 9
chr 7

Rogue 1
race elf
Feat Improved Initiative

ONLY CORE BOOKS are to be used. I am looking to roleplay an archer rogue but shoot from the shadows type. Any suggestions would be great. Oh yeah no SD either.

If you want a rogue-type arcane archer, what about Rogue 3/Wizard 5/Arcane Trickster 10/Arcane Archer 2? [Those arcane archer levels would be as early in the build as you qualify for them].

The nice thing here is imbue arrow, which I think is the only worthwhile ability the Arcane Archer has. You end up with 8th-level spells, so you can imbue reverse gravity, cone of cold, prismatic sphere, etc. into your arrows from the shadows. You end up with some decent sneak attack dice, too.

Anyway, just a thought using core 3.5 only.

Sorcerer or Wizard 1 / Rogue 6 should already be enough to qualify as Arcane Archer. If you want 4th level Spells go Sorcerer 4 / Rogue 6...

I'm playing (the extrem-multiclassed) Half-Elf:

Fighter 2 (Feats and BaB)
Monk 1 (WIS to AC, improved unarmed attack)
Wizard 1 (1st Level Spells)
Rogue 3 (2d6 sneak, Evasion, uncanny dodge, Skillpoints)
Shadowdancer 2 (improved uncanny dodge, darkvision, hide on plain sight, ...)
Arcane Archer 2 (and going up to 10 at 19th level).

I know it's a lot of classes, but i rolled *fantastic* attributes, and why wear armor if you can add a +3 WIS Bonus to AC?
Rogue 6 / Sorcerer 4 or Rogue 3 / Shadowdancer 2 / Fighter 1 / Sorcerer 4 could be a more solid build.

Arcane Trickster is nice for "Thief" builds that disable traps, magicaly open doors and turn the group invisible, but not for a Raned-Combat Build... too low BAB, too low HitDice...
