okay, need a character for another upcoming game. level 30 gish, pre-given scores (18, 16, 16, 14, 14, 12) probaly going to be arranged as such:
STR: 18
DEX:16
CON:14
INT:16
WIS:12
CHA: 14

i need a melee fighter type, i'll be playing the only one, so i need to have equal damage output and input(?). pretty much any no-LA races but if you have a thought please let me know. open to alignment ideas.

catches: 20 levels in single classes (barbarian/ninja 20 xx/xx 10). one of main 20 level classes must be from core PHB (so rogue/warlock 20 is cool, but no duskblade/spirit shamans 20), other class and PC's from any eberron, complete, races book. no FR. i have ToM, ToB, MoI.

what i like: options as far as tactics go, i like to have plans. i really like feats. having many of them makes me happy. also a wide variety of weaponry, to be ready for anything. weapons also make me happy.

what i was thinking: my first impulse was a fighter/warblade 20 with a focus on diamond mind and iron heart styles, swordsman. so far i'm really liking the warblade, better HD, stance mastery and Int to tons of stuff.

i bow to the CO boards who hold the wisdom of the universe. i am off to work, i'll be back on later tonight, please ask if you have questions.

If you are willing to go with a lightly armored combatant I think swordsage/fighter might be a better way to go. You get more diverse manuvers that way, also the swordsage gets more from fighter improving the fort and BAB.

Another interesting combination would be warblade/rogue concentrating on the tiger claw manuvers that make people flat-footed

okay, back from work with a few more ideas. as i just found out, my character is going to be the only real melee character. as such i would like to keep all my classes with a good BAB progressions. on to the responses.

thank you for the ideas and your time, but if i'm using anything out of ToB, i'd like to use the warblade, for one it gives me a heftier HD, and i'm pretty partial to the Iron Heart discipline, which swordsages don't get access too. also i'm probaly gonna wind up in at least medium armor (read: mithral heavy armor) so the lightly armored thing might not be the best thing for me. you are right about maxing my saves with swordsage though...

however, the thought of a warblade/rogue you bring up does strike my fancy, if i take the Leadership feat i may have my cohort concept all set, maybe have it be a shifter to boot?

okay i'm editing my first post to reflect some of things i now know i'll need

Well for pure tanking power knight can be a good way to go. Knight/warblade could have potentional. If you go this route switch the 14 to dex and the 16 to cha and go with something like adamantine full plate for armor. If you go this way you might want to fit in some of the stone dragon manuvers that involve not moving as the monsters will likely be coming to you.

ahhhh, way sweet, i like your style :ayyyy!: i'll throw the guidelines out until i get a ruling on this combo from my DM. does anyone have any ideas as to what would be best for the last 10 levels? any really cool manuevers or feats i should be checking out?

If you can PrC for the last 10 bloodstorm blade is nice and allows for fun look on the enemies face when the guy with the greatsword hits them 4 time from 50 feet away
