We just started a new campaign and I've been assigned Clerical duties. :)
I've chosen to go with Selune as my deity with the moon and travel as my domains.
Unfortunately, that's about all I've got in terms of my Cleric. I really don't know enough to know where to go from there.
I was hoping to build an effective team character that's also fun to play for combat. (ie, spending as little time as possible buffing at the start of the fight...)
We're using 3.5 with all official WoTC books.
Character is human with the following stats:
Str: 14
Dex: 13
Con: 14
Int: 11
Wis: 18
Cha: 15

Questions:

1) What feats should I get at the start?
2) Should I use the weapon of my deity (Heavy mace) or can/should I use something else?
3) What's a good first level spell list?

Cheers.

What kind of cleric do you want to be, a melee combatant or a healer or an oracle or whatever?

Your feats/spells basicly depend on your flavor, but I would recommemend bless as a lvl 1 spell.

Since I don't play 3.5 I can't be sure but a must take feat was always SpellCasting Prodigy from FRCS. It gives your primary spellcasting stat a 2 pt boost (So your wis would be 20 for spells).

Bless is nice and Magic Weapon never hurts (stupid DR monsters). Like I said I play 3.0 so idk if that helps or not.

Melee combatant and party healer.
Secondary spellcaster.

Is that possible?

I would define a healer as some one who buffs the party and heals during combat.

A melee combat cleric buffs himself and goes to kill. He heals the party after combat.

Melee combatant and party healer.

Uhm, this is kinda difficult, casting in melee is very risky especially when you need to heal your party members all the time.

If you want melee you should go straight melee. If you want to fullfill 2 roles, you should go, healer/primary caster this way you could stay behind your frontline and just heal and cast buffs and some offensive spells
