Alright, looking for help to get a character into this prestige class as early as possible and ending up with the highest possible caster level progression in both arcane and divine once 20th level is reached. Assume stats of 18, 18, 17, 16, 14, 14, starting level of 1, all core and splat books allowed, and LA races of up to +1(+2 if a good enough case is made for a race with a LA that high). LA buyoff will be allowed. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

The earliest you can get into the FL is level 11. It requires 13 ranks in a skill and there is no getting around that whatsoever. Getting in at level 11 is a piece of cake. It requires no special thought at all. What does take thought, like everything else, is optimizing said FL with the type of character you want to play. FL builds are one of my specialties. I absolutely love both the FL and the bard for optimization purposes. If you tell me what kind of character you want to play I will make it for you. Some options are:

Wildshaping druid/Bard with 9th level sorcerer spells
Very nasty archer
duel wielding goody goody (very powerful)
Bard song focused (many are anyways, some more than others)
Full Rogue capabilities
Specialized healers
(mostly) full wizard casters

Don't pick one of the builds above, just let me know the flavor for the character and I will suggest a build.

Basically, looking for as good a support character I can get. Buffs from arcane and divine spells, bard songs to back it up. If they can do good damage in combat as well, all the better.

And fnord, thanks for the link. Wish the forums had a search feature so I could have found it before starting a thread :P

It took me about 2 minutes to find the FL thread in the Important Thread Index - Some Handy Links for CO Work. :D

Well, good for you. Thanks for contributing that info to this thread. It's always nice to see someone showing their abilities after someone already pointed the thread out to me. I appreciate it!

For a heavy support character you might try the following.

Race: Human
Template: Shadow (great template +2 LA (buy it off) grants evasion)

1 Bard Lingering song, Practiced spellcaster (Bard)
2 Cleric Glory and charm domains (probably)
3 Bard Practiced spellcaster (Cleric)
4 Cleric
5 Cleric
6 Cleric Initiate of milil
7 Bard
8 Bard
9 Bard Words of creation
10 Bard
11 Fochlucan Lyrist
12 Sublime Chord Song of the heart
13 Fochlucan Lyrist
14 Fochlucan Lyrist
15 Fochlucan Lyrist Subsonics
16 Fochlucan Lyrist
17 Fochlucan Lyrist
18 Fochlucan Lyrist Snowflake wardance or arcane strike or whatever
19 Fochlucan Lyrist
20 Fochlucan Lyrist

BAB 16
Fort 9
Ref 11 (evasion)
Will 17

Bardic music 19 including all bardic songs
Very strong bard song

Bardic caster level 20 (3rd level spells)
Sublime chord caster level 20 (9th level spells all sorcerer and bard list to choose from)
Cleric caster level 17 (7th level spells)
Fast healing
Constant concealment (thus the subsonics, for flavor)

Extremely strong support character and still decent in melee (extremely good if you want him to be with spells and buffs, shapechange with 16 bab and full cleric and bard buffs and songs (and potentially snowflake wardance or arcane strike)). He's a monster.

Noproblemwhatsoever.

Don't forget, as with all FL builds without druid in it (which is actually most of the well optimized ones) you have to somehow learn druidic by level 11. This is purely a roleplaying issue. It requires charming, bribing, strongarming, seducing or otherwise influencing a druid (or ex-druid (anyone with 1 level of druid)) to teach you their secret language. It is certainly within the rules for this to happen and should make for some fun roleplaying.
