| der_gogo09-12-05, 08:50 AM | Hello! I am currently tyring to build a nice Two-Weapon-Wielding Character that does not rely on str in order to deal his damage. Searching in the Optimisation Build Thread i got this build: Swashbuckler 3 / Rogue 3 / Dervish (Swashbuckler 3 gives Int to damage) But it seems not to work with 2-Weapon-Fighting until lvl 9 and is only possible if using the Human race. I thought about going Swashbuckler 3 / Fighter 2 / Dervish maybe. But not having +2d6 Sneak Attack and Evasion kind of stinks. With Swashbuckler 3 / Rogue 2 / Fighter 1 / Dervish you would have a soon 2-Weaponfighting at least, but you lose +1d6 sneak attack. Any thoughts or comments? Am I missing something? :) |
| oxybe09-12-05, 08:58 AM | swash 3 / figher2 / dervish 10 / tempest 5 during the dervish part, take twf and imp twf. tempest's abidexterity lowers your penalties when twf'ing and gives you the ability to twf when spring attacking. should you go elf, ditch 2 levels of tempest and go for champion of corellon larent... whatever, the elf god. it's in races of the wild. a 2 level dip adds your dex to your damage. i think there is a feat somewhere that lets you add charisma to your damage also, but you may need to take cleric 1... if you really want the evasion, ditch figher 2 for rogue 2 / figher 1 and take tempest 4 instead of 5. |
| Woodstock_0109-12-05, 09:23 AM | I would go for Swashbuckler 3/Scout 5/Dervish 9/... The Scout gives you +2d6 damage and +1 AC if you move more than 10 ft. (and as a Dervish, you will) and gives you Evasion and lots of skill points. 1 Combat Expertise, Expeditious Dodge (RoW) 2 Weapon Finesse (Swb bonus feat) 3 Weapon Focus (Scimitar) 4 Mobility (Scout bonus feat) 6 TWF 9 Imp TWF 12 Greater TWF 15 Elusive Target 18 Feat |
| yoritomoshomey09-12-05, 11:08 AM | Swashbuckler3/Exoticist2/Dervish1-4/Duelist3/Champion of Corellon Larethian2/Dervish5-10 Swashbuckler is from Complete Warrior. In 3 levels it gives you Weapon Finesse, grace +1, and insightful strike (Int to damage). Exoticist is from Dragon Magazine #310. It is a Fighter variant. In 2 levels it gives you 2 bonus feats from the exoticist feat list. It also gives you proficiency with 4 exotic weapons. Dervish is from Complete Warrior. Pre-requisites: +5 BAB; Dodge, Mobility, Combat Expertise, Weapon Focus (any slashing weapon); Perform (dance) 3 ranks, Tumble 3 ranks. In 10 levels it gives you Dervish dance 5/day, movement mastery, slashing blades, fast movement +15', Spring Attack, dance of death, improved reaction, elaborate parry, tireless dance, and a thousand cuts. Duelist is from the DMG. Pre-requisites: +6 BAB, Perform 3 ranks, Tumble 5 ranks, Dodge, Mobility, Weapon Finesse. In 3 levels it gives you canny defense, improved reaction +2, and enhanced mobility. Champion of Corellon Larethian is from Races of the Wild. Pre-requisites: Elf or Half-Elf; Worship Corellon Larethian; +7 BAB; Martial Weapon Proficiency, Heavy Armor Proficiency, Combat Expertise, Dodge, Mounted Combat, Weapon Focus (longsword) OR Exotic Weapon Proficiency (elven thinblade or elven courtblade); Diplomacy 4 ranks, Knowledge (religion) 2 ranks, Alignment: Non-evil. In 2 levels it gives you Corellon's blessing, a bonus feat and elegant strike (Dex to damage) At 20th level this build has: BAB +20 20d10 HD Base saves of +13/+11/+12 Feats 1 Weapon Finesse (Swashbuckler) 1 Weapon Focus: Scimitar 2 Dodge (Exoticist) 3 Mobility 4 Combat Expertise (Exoticist) 6 Two-Weapon Fighting 8 Spring Attack (Dervish) 9 Improved Two-Weapon Fighting 12 Mounted Combat 13 Elusive Target (Champion of CL) 15 Improved Critical: Scimitar 18 Greater Two-Weapon Fighting My 2 cents, Dave |
| Tweedledope09-12-05, 01:47 PM | How about Cobra Strike Monk 2/Swashbuckler 3/Dervish 10. That looks nice, unless of course it requires a higher BAB (no books right now, sorry), if it does then go for Initiate of Draconic Mysteries (Draconomicon) to make your Unarmed Strikes slashing weapons...might be nice with a Dervish and Flurry of Blows. -=Tweedledope=- |
| barret3b09-12-05, 05:23 PM | You could also go.... Swashbucker 3/ Rogue 3/Assassin 4/Dervish 10 BAB 18, Int to damage, Evasion, 4d6 SA, Uncanny Dodge and 2nd level Assassin spells. Now, take the Craven feat, which would add your Character level damage to every SA. This comes out to massive damage. Flank someone, cast Wraithstrike as a swift action(all your attacks are touch attacks for the round), then unleash a full attack. Assuming TWF tree and 18 str and Int, use a Thousand Cuts, thats 14 attacks before enchantments and thats......56d6 SA, 280 damage(craven), 56 damage (Int to dam), 42 damage (str). About 546 damage before you factor in the weapons, which would most likely have 15-20 crit ranges(3.5 criticals average), and everything gets multiplied with the crit except for sneak attack dice. Dual +5 Maiming Scimitars of Speed would do nicely.(Make one of speed and the other of Greater Wounding(2 con per hit) and Shocking if you don't think speed weapons work together) |
| FrenzyFrank3409-12-05, 06:37 PM | If you can make your dm accept it then take weapon finesse which add your dex to dammage. The only problem with it is that it's a homemade feat but the condition are pretty reasonable. Then you can then drop the levels of CoCL. If you want to stick with the duelist it's your choice but without it you can take 1 level of barb for the flavor and because the prc ill give you need to cast arcane or divine spell. The prc is Blade Dancer from OA. With 4 levels in it you had +20 to tumble, balance and jump, you make some little improvement for your blade and you double your base speed. For my case I think that the build of barret3b is pretty nicely done if you can't take mine. Good job. ;) |
| barret3b09-12-05, 06:47 PM | Thanks, :D |
| FrenzyFrank3409-12-05, 07:31 PM | No problem. You must recognize other people talent. Anyway if you want to fight with 2 scimitars then tempste is a waste of time because Two weapon spring attack is maybe pretty nice but with the dervish dance you already have it ( I know not all the time ) and you can have many other stronger things with your last 5 levels. |
| der_gogo09-13-05, 09:33 AM | I think I will go with Swash 3 / Fighter 2 / Dervish and a bit later invest some Rogue lvls in order to get evasion and Sneak Attack. Our campaign will start around lvl 4 or so and with that char i can get 4 attacks at lvl 6 which is sweet. My GM only allowed 1 PrC to be taken, so i cant go some of the routes you advised... :weep: :D |
| FrenzyFrank3409-13-05, 08:46 PM | I know it's not the best build to discuss of that but barret I thought of your build and I talk with a friend and aren't we suppose to cast a single sneak attack in a round??? I'm not saying that your not right but Id like to classify that. Thx |
| yoritomoshomey09-19-05, 01:55 PM | My GM only allowed 1 PrC to be taken, so i cant go some of the routes you advised... :weep: This build has 2 PrC's, however, the Occult Slayer fits with the non-spellcasting Ranger variant from Complete Warrior. Ranger*1/Swashbuckler1/Ranger2/Swashbuckler2-3/Ranger3-6/Occult Slayer1/Dervish1-10 *Non-spellcasting variant from Complete Warrior. At level 20, this build has: +20 BAB, base saves of +11/+13/+12, 13d10+7d8 HD, 55' base speed, and decent skill points. If your DM won't allow the dip into Occult Slayer you can substitute the following: Swashbuckler4: base saves of +12/+13/+10, 14d10+6d8 HD Ranger7: base saves of +11/+13/+10, 13d10+7d8 HD Feats 1 Dodge 1 Improved Initiative (Human) 1 Track (Ranger) 2 Weapon Finesse (Swashbuckler) 3 Mobility 3 Two-Weapopn Fighting (Ranger) 6 Combat Expertise 6 Endurance (Ranger) 9 Weapon Focus: Scimitar 9 Improved TWF (Ranger) 12 Greater TWF 13 Spring Attack (Dervish) 15 Elusive Target 18 Improved Critical: Scimitar If you can't take the level of Occult Slayer, you can switch the race from Human to Gray Elf and lose the Improved Initiative. 32-point buy Human: Str:12, Dex:16, Con:14, Int:16, Wis:10, Cha:8 32-point buy Gray Elf (racial modifiers included): Str:10, Dex:18, Con:12, Int:18, Wis:10, Cha:8 Toodles, Dave |
