| Victor_Ograygor11-13-06, 01:28 PM | Help me Build a Optimized Mummy lord, i want to whip some adventures. You have A standard Mummy lord 3.5 vesion 40.000 gp worth of magic items Preparation before adventures : 8 Rounds (Cast spells and youse magic items) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unusually powerful or evil individuals preserved as mummies sometimes rise as greater mummies after death. A mummy lord resembles its lesser fellows, but often wears or carries equipment it used in life. Mummy lords are often potent spellcasters. They are found as guardians of the tombs of high lords, priests, and mages. Most are sworn to defend for eternity the resting place of those whom they served in life, but in some cases a mummy lord’s unliving state is the result of a terrible curse or rite designed to punish treason, infidelity, or crimes of an even more abhorrent nature. A mummy lord of this sort is usually imprisoned in a tomb that is never meant to be opened again. Typical Cleric Spells Prepared (6/7/6/5/5/4; save DC 15 + spell level) 0—detect magic (2), guidance, read magic, resistance, virtue; 1st—bane, command, deathwatch, divine favor, doom, sanctuary*, shield of faith; 2nd—bull’s strength, death knell*, hold person, resist energy, silence, spiritual weapon; 3rd—animate dead*, deeper darkness, dispel magic, invisibility purge, searing light; 4th—air walk, dismissal, divine power, giant vermin, spell immunity*; 5th—insect plague, slay living*, spell resistance, symbol of pain. *Domain Spell. | VanRiper11-13-06, 02:41 PM | Do you have Libris Mortis? I would highly recommend that book for pumping up any undead. The evolved template will help tremendously as well as the Fell metamagic feats. |
| Victor_Ograygor11-13-06, 04:11 PM | Yes sorry, and Complete Mage |
| Momar11-13-06, 04:48 PM | Don't forget that the mummy was created in a desecrated zone containing an altar to an evil god. And is maybe fighting the PCs in such a place. Libris Mortis has a mummy PrC, but it's only good if it's protecting a resting place of the undead or somesuch. It was three levels and gave turn immunity and charisma to attack, damage, and saves I think for 10 minutes once a day. With the right items and such that bonus could be pretty good. Also, since the mummy has turns but not much to use them on in the PC party (I assume) give him divine feats. |
| Momar11-13-06, 05:49 PM | As I was sitting in class I realized the folly of my advice; if you do decide to give the mummy more class levels then something that advances cleric casting would be the best choice by far. Those three levels for example would grant 6th and 7th level spells. |
| VanRiper11-14-06, 10:29 AM | I suggested Libris Mortis for the undead feats and spells and the evolved template - not the prestige class. Take a look at the spell-like abilities (1 per level taken) you can get with the evolved template - plus a bonus to str. and natural armor. |
| TheOne11-15-06, 05:05 PM | Don't forget something that makes him resistant/immune to fire |
| Victor_Ograygor11-16-06, 05:45 PM | Okay come one is it hard to Optimize are Mummy lord ? |
| Endarire11-16-06, 08:50 PM | What about a half-dragon mummy lord? This dragon would be fire immune, of course. -EE |
| Pinky's brain11-16-06, 09:04 PM | Do your adventurers have a cleric with greater turning? |
| Victor_Ograygor11-17-06, 04:20 AM | no |
| Pinky's brain11-18-06, 12:54 AM | The only things which really spring out which is specific to the mummy lord are ability focus (despair) and practiced spellcaster and the magic domain (so you can use scrolls of say cloudkill and expeditiuous retreat). For the rest there are a host of ways to optimize the creature and the encounter (for instance, if you put him in a dungeon room with a pool of water he could use control water to try to drown the PCs). It completely depends on your preference. |
