| X-Codes10-12-06, 06:05 PM | What school are you specializing in? EDIT: Well, heres some tips. With Complete Mage comes the Master Specialist, which really ought to be a pre-requisite for being a Red Wizard. You'll want to take anywhere from 3 to 7 levels in the Master Specialist PrC depending on what you want to do with yourself. (assuming Moderate School Esoterica is at 7th level) Abjuration: 7 levels of Master Specialist. Conjuration: 3 levels of Master Specialist for blasters or controllers, 7 levels for Summoners. Divination: 3 levels of Master Specialist. Enchantment: 4 levels of Master Specialist. Evocation: 3 levels of Master Specialist. Illusion: 7 levels of Master Specialist. Necromancy: 7 levels of Master Specialist. Transmutation: 3 or 4 levels of Master Specialist. If you pick Abjuration, Divination, Illusion, Necromancy, or intend to specialize in Conjuration and be primarily a Summoner, then the Focused Specialist variant is an option (since you don't need to worry about qualifying for Archmage, although it does cut your spell list in half). The rest are better served with Archmage levels (except the Diviner, where you can use up your specialist slots to power Archmage High Arcanas. Even as a Focused Specialist/Red Wizard, you'll still have the 5 schools needed to qualify, too). Picking one of the Specialist Wizard variants from the PHB II or UA (i.e. trading in your familiar) is also a good idea, even if you want to use it. Just take the Obtain Familiar feat later on. Now, for feats. Obviously you'll already have Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus, you also have Skill Focus (Spellcraft) to qualify for Archmage down the road in some cases. Your caster level with specialty spells will already rock, so Spell Penetration isn't that important. Leadership, however, is. Bring along your cohort and a handful of followers for Circle Magic each morning (Yeah, your followers are fragile, but just keep them out of combat and they'll be fine). Asaide from that, the usual Metamagic shennanigans and an Item Creation feat or two rounds out the character. |

| X-Codes10-12-06, 07:02 PM | Evocation / I want to creat a master VILLAN Ick... Evocation... Evoker 3/Master Specialist 3/Red Wizard 10/Archmage 4 Prohibited Schools: Conjuration (at 7), Enchantment, and Illusion. Variants: 1) Energy Affinity (Cold) Feats: 1) Spell Focus (Evocation), Tattoo Focus 3) Spell Focus (Necromancy) 4) Skill Focus (Spellcraft) 6) Greater Spell Focus (Evocation), Leadership 9) *Metamagic* 11) *Metamagic* 12) Snowcasting? 15) *Metamagic* 18) *Metamagic* Search the boards for the Uttercold Assault Necromancer (theres probably a link in Handy Links which is in my sig). The best I can do is this: use Lord of the Uttercold with a few Skeletal minions to keep your enemies at bay. Because of their immunity to cold, you don't hurt them. Because of Lord of the Uttercold, you heal them for half the damage of your cold spells. Also take the feat that increases your damage with cold spells by +1 or +2 per die (I think it's Snowcasting, but I could be mistaken). Sure it's conditional, but Control Weather is on the Wizard spell list. |

Caster level 40 all day long with a few bonus circle levels to play around with are always nice. other than that: Posting guidelines. |

Caster level 40 all day long with a few bonus circle levels to play around with are always nice. I was thinking just followers. The Thayan Knight cohort is definately the way to go, Frenzied Berserker or not. As for me, I think I'd do a... Half-Orc (Shaky, Vulnerable) Barbarian 1- Human Heritage, Iron Will, Skill Focus (Intimidate) Barbarian 3- Intimidating Rage Barbarian 5- [Finish Class] Menacing Brute 1- Weapon Focus (Longsword) Menacing Brute 4- Staggering Strike Menacing Brute 5- [Finish Class] Thayan Knight 2- Frightful Presence Thayan Knight 3- Shield Specialization (Tower Shield) [Finish Class] Barbarian 7- Shield Ward Barbarian 10- Extra Rage Barbarian 12- [Level 20] A giant hunk of scary metal. |
