Building a Self-Sufficient Eberron Cleric [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm seeing about getting into an online Eberron game, and while my initial inclination was to play a gish, the party seems in dire need of a healer. I immediately thought "CoDZILLA TIME!", and since I tend to like the look of shiny armor, I'm leaning to the Cleric side of things.

Char Creation Rules

Characters are built upon a 32 point build.
Starting level is 5th (10,000 xp, 9,000 gp)
Hit points are max at 1st, after that, roll, you are allowed to reroll 1's.

The following books may be used:
Any official DND book that is not setting-specific to a setting other than eberron (I.e. Faerun etc).

Any character goes, but be wary - if you pick a character that does not play well with others, the others may choose not to play with you, likewise, PVP is likely to result in your character ending up dead.
Deliberately abusive or 'revenge' characters will not be allowed, such players may be asked to leave.
Party Members
I'm not sure which of these characters will actually be coming, and not all of them listed their full abilities. The DM noted that political maneuvering and such may eventually turn some players against each other and split us into different groups. I'd like to be a valuable enough healer that I keep as many people friendly to me as possible, and tough enough that when things get ugly, I can kick some ass and take care of myself.

The following with asterisks have already posted and taken actions, so it seems they're in. Those without haven't done anything IC yet.

*Changeling Rogue/Bard
*A "creator of works of transitory and terrible beauty," which I take to mean Artificer
*Human Artificer, Dragonmarked of House Orien.
*Warforged Fighter, working for House Deneith
*Shifter Scout/Barbarian
*Half-Elf Bard/Swashbuckler, Dragonmarked of House Lynader
*Human (?) "Fighter of sorts"

Elven Dread Necromancer
Goliath Fighter
Dwarf going for a JPM gish build

-----
With this in mind, I'm after a character who can keep the party standing, and who can take care of himself if and when things go south and everyone ends up fighting everyone else.

A metamagic-buffed Cleric is looking like a great option for this--are Illumians setting specific? I'm also not used to Dragonmarks, so I'd like to know if any of the particular dragonmarks on a human would be a good option.

Healing as a domain combined with the Spontaneous Domain variant from PHB II seems ideal for getting the higher level cures onto my "oh ****" casting list. Looking at the Cleric Handbook (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=691564) thread, taking the feat Mastery of Day and Night (Magic of Eberron) sounds like awesome synergy for that:

Req: Knowledge(the Planes) 2 , Spellcraft 6, Maximize Spell, membership in manifest spellshapers (not too familiar with the CS, is this hard to get?)
Spontaneously Maximize any Cure or Inflict spell you cast with NO spell level increase adjustment.

As some final thoughts: I'm feeling goody-goody, so I'd prefer a build that doesn't require an evil alignment. As mentioned, I'm also after a combination of divine asskickery and melee ability. PrC wise, I'm unsure what to take, and I'd appreciate any and all advice in that regard--though I'm certainly not against Cleric 20.

Tentative Build
Cleric 6 / Radiant Servant of the Sovereign Lords 10 / ??? 4

Starting Scores: Str 14, Dex 10, Con 10, Int 10, Wis 16, Cha 16

NG Human, Sun and Healing domains

Feats
H) Extend Spell
L1) Persist Spell
L3) DMM: Persist
L6) Extra Turning
L9) ?
L12) ?
L15) ?

At level 16 this gives me full spellcasting, BAB +11, avg 58 HP
12 F / 5 R / 12 W saves, maxed Concentration, 10 Know (Religion), 5 Heal. I also get the ability to spontaneously cast auto-maximized, empowered Healing domain spells, plus the other RSoP goodies.

I'm not sure where to take the last 4 levels. Skill points are tight, so getting into Sacred Exorcist seems difficult. Any recommendations? Church Inquisitor is out due to having to be NG for Radiant Servant.

Thanks in advance.

Sovereign Speaker will get you an extra domain (and eventually, domain slots and domain abilities) every level you take in the class, assuming you meet certain conditions (detailed in Faiths of Eberron).

Spontaneous Domain (Healing) rocks with the adapted Radiant Servant, so see if you can grab that class. Sacred Healing is another good feat, allowing you to burn a turn attempt for Fast Healing 3 to all allies in a 30' burst for a number of rounds equal to your Cha bonus.

I am not too well versed in eberron myself, but was thinking that prophecy's sheperd (MoE) could be interresting in a build. For two feats you can autoquicken your cure spells. Activating the dragon prophesy is a full-round action, iirc, but activate it the first round you would want to heal someone and there is no loss of time.

so we are at auto quickened, maximized cures, not too shabby.

I would use your remaining feat slots for DMM and persistant spell.

I looked at the Radiant Servant and holy crap are you right that it's pure awesome when combind with spontaneous domain (Healing). I don't even need Mastery of Day and Night since it's a class feature.

You said something about it being adapted, is that in the errata or what? There's no deity in Eberron with BOTH Healing and Sun, though both domains are present in the pantheon.

frasmage, thanks for the tip, I'll go take a look at that class.

well, first of all, prophecy's sheperd is a feat, not a PrC. It allows you to quicken all cure/inflict spells cast during a dragon prophecy, which is another feat you have to take. It is two feats out of the buid, but it could come in handy

Ah, whoops :D

I'm working on fitting in persistent Divine metamagic atm, so I suppose the quickening would fit in later in the build.
