I looked through a few pages and didn't see anything relevant, so:
Here are my fixed stats, 10 Str, 16 Dex, 16 Con, 14 Int, 12 Wis, 16 Cha
I need to play a human. Most any source of d20 allowed, but I'm looking for a character that a DM will allow. Very powerful, but not dependent on a rules exploitation. My DM is fairly permissive, but very crafty.

Oh, we get an extra feat at 1st, so a 1st lvl human has 3 fts, 2 extra skill points a level for all levels (& +8 sp at 1st), and are playing in the Forgotten Realms. Thanks.

Depends what you want to do with it.

There are feats to help you hit with the Eldritch Blast (pb shot, precise shot, improved precise shot, improved critical)

There are feats to help you make stuff (Craft Wondrous Item, Craft Staff, Craft Scroll, Forge Ring, Craft Rod)

There are feats to beat SR (Spell pen., Improved Spell Pen., arcane mastery). Note that Vitriolic Blast beats SR automatically (but that won't help with creatures immune to acid damage), but with your charisma you might want other invokations as well).

And you can never go wrong with Extra Invocation (starting at 6th).

Being Grappled is your glass jaw. Ways to avoid it include the invocation Flee the Scene (plus the feat Sudden Still spell -- the feat from races of stone called Steady Concentration helps here too), Forge Ring (at 12th - make a ring of freedom of action or whatever it is called), Improved Grapple.

You might also want to look at the Quicken/Maximize/Empower/Heighten spell-like ability feats.

Maybe armor prof (med) + Battle Caster to get better armor?

What level are you starting at? How quick/slow is advancement?

Make a chasuble of fell power if you can. Warlock's rods are ok, but run out of charges so are not as good.

Decide on your focus with invocations: Sneak? Multiple-option blaster? There are some nice skill invocations too.

Check what version of Darkness your DM plays with (3.5 dimness or 3.0 real no-light darkness).

If you like, I can post my warlock, but mine avoided all invocations requiring saves because my chr was not good. You have more choices available.

Skills: You MUST maximize UMD. It is probably good to maximize Concentration.

Hope this helps.

Supernatural transformation, hmmm, I hadn't thought of that. Do you get unlimited uses or 3/day?

Level up is fairly fast, I've got the chauble or whatever gives you an extra d6 damage on the Eldritch Blast. Point Blank and Precise are good choices, I'm more curious if anyone has some unusual tactics with some of the invocations. The Evard's with cold damage seems a solid choice, but is it better than wall of fire?

Does anyone have some practical experience to shed light on invocation choices. Clearly see invisibility, fly, dispel, and spear are all solid choices. I've been somewhat stumped as to why some of the invocations are so clearly better than the others.

Would someone mind sticking in a complete list of PrCs that warlocks can qualify for?

From what i've gathered about Supernatural Transformation. It's both beautiful and also somthing of a one way street. As, *blahs* memory serves I don't beleive you can use any metamagic feats on it after it has been supernaturaly transformed. So no maximize spell like ability etc... though... ignoring sr and all the goodness of a (su) ability may outshine the loss depending on the style of play you're looking for. Also for the warlock and the at will usage of its eldritch blast, supernatural transformation is a consistant aplication

Note: my DM doesn't allow supernatural transformation, and it looks like Richard Baker and co. are against it as well. But if your Dm is cool with it, then why not?

Being Grappled is your glass jaw. Ways to avoid it include the invocation Flee the Scene (plus the feat Sudden Still spell -- the feat from races of stone called Steady Concentration helps here too)

Flee the scene doesn't work - it, like all invocations, needs a somatic component. Sudden still spell cannot still it - sudden metamagics don't work on invocations, just the "X spell-like ability" feats. Since most SLA's are already stilled, the chance of finding "still spell-like ability" as a feat is basically zero.

I have no idea what steady concentration does. My guess is that it still doesn't get rid of the "no somatic components in a grapple" problem.

Having said that, though, you're no worse off in a grapple than the party cleric.

, Forge Ring (at 12th - make a ring of freedom of action or whatever it is called), Improved Grapple.

You could also try persuading your DM that the slick armour ability should apply it's bonus to all grapple checks made to escape a grapple, in the same way as the grease spell does.

1) My DM allows sudden still + flee the scene, and this is not a house rule because...

2) The complete arcane book specifically allows sudden still to be used with invocations. See page 71-2.

3) Steady Concentration allows one to take 10 on concentration checks (like a sudden still invocation while grappled, for instance) even if threatened or distracted, so that if one has a concentration score of 14, one can guarantee a "get out of grapple free" card. (Flee the scene is lvl 4 equivalent, so you need to make a dc 24 concentration check).

Wild/Hidden Talent, followed by Psionic Shot and Greater Psionic shot is a nice way to up your blast damage. Mortalbane is also nice.

I had a maximum Edlritch Blast Damage build around here, somewhere, along with a True Necromancer Build, and a Disciple of Asmodeus. Can't seem to find it, though. Goota go to sleep now, but I'll post it here in the morning. If I can /find/ the blasted thing.

how is it you are getting 7 invocations for your level 8 warlock? how often do they get invocations?
