| anders01-30-04, 04:21 AM | I'm elf. Our group has the rule that the first class you pick is your favoured class. I want my character to be a graceful fighter (swashb.), fighting with two thinblades (d8, 18-20 threat). My current ab(after mod for lvl) str 10, con 11, dex 20, int 16, wis 7, char 10 Levels: 3 lvl swashbuck, 3 lvl rouge, 2 lvl fight. Feats: Wpn focus, improved init, two wpn fight, imp two wpn, weapon finesse (free), dodge, Insightful strike (free - adds int to dmg) *plan * Next level i will advance as exotic weapon master and take the exotic twin weapon fighting trick (reduces penalty with -1, -1), then two levels of fighter, then just go rouge the rest (and take oppertunitist at lvl 10R). Feats: expertise, weapon specialization, greater two wpn, karmic strike, (undecided feat - quick draw?) (Note: i am considering dropping karmic strike and go for order of the bow initiative prg. class (4 bow feats required)) Obvisouly i will try to flank my opponents, win initiative etc to get the sneak attack. Since my party includes another thief and a hard core fighter this should be doable. If everything goes as planned this character will live to 25-30 level or so. What i am looking for: - Is there something you would have done different? - Is there a way to make this character decent with bow and still make him good with the sword? - Any (other) feats that could help me going the way i want to go? - i'm only allowed prg. classes from core/official books. Campaign: dragonlance (so i'm not allowed prg. classes from FR for instance) - we use 3.5 ed. rules. |

Bracers of Archery is a cool thing, it makes you profienced with every single non*crossbow bow type, and you're threated to have weapon focus and weapon specialization with any bow. TWF is something you have if you choose the one above. TWD is cool, as well as ITWF and GTWF. But if you will continue as a ranger, wouldnt be neccesery. Fighter is not a usefull class, instead of rogue/ fighter/ swashbuckler munchkin character, this one is better. Feats: go with classical progres: Dodge, Mobility, Weapon Finesse, Combat Expertise, Spring Attack, Whirldwind Attck, Run etc. Choose rogue skills, always, never choose charisma based skills, let the rogue and the sorcerer take care of conversations. good luck. :D The bard has sung! |

Exotic Twin weapon fighting works with Light Weapons only. as such you are basically Regulated to Elven Lightblades (as thinblades only D6) in order to get this to work. |
| anders01-30-04, 04:59 AM | kedi: I fail to see how that build is superior to the one already presented. 1) it lacks sneak attack damage, 2)less attacks (dont have improved two wpn). It will get more hp though, and thats always nice :) - I cant rely on magical items, since we are playing in a world with little of them. zharim: Thank you for pointing that out, i was fairly sure the thinblade was a light weapon, but i double checked and its not ;) Hmm, that gives me an additional level. |

I fail to see how it is a swashbuckler if it is a bow user! I always thought of Swashbucklers as thinblade/lightblade/buckler/dagger/rapier/scimitar etc wielding swordsmen. |
