I’m going to play in a Midnight campaign setting in a little while and I was going to try my hand at a swordsage from Tome Of Battle. The campaign will start at ECL8 and 28-point buy for stat generation.
And I was looking at trying my hand at variant of this build:

I’ll be playing one of the human variants which are a bit better then the normal DnD humans.
These gain 2 human bonus feats at level 1 and 8 skill points as well as 2 skill points per level.
The ability scores I generated: (These include the 2 points gained at level 4 and 8 respectively.)
Strength 10
Dexterity 18
Constitution 12
Intelligence 10
Wisdom 16
Charisma 8

The extra feat will let me drop 1 fighter level in exchange for another swordsage level leaving me with the following progression:
Swordsage 2/fighter 1/Swordsage+4/Master of the nine1

Feat progression:
Human: Adaptive style, Desert wind dodge
1: Improved initiative
SS1: (monk variant)unarmed strike, weapon focus (Shadowhand)
Fighter 1: Blind fight
3: ShadowBlade
6: Blade meditation (shadowhand)

There’s just one thing I’m wondering about.
The original build takes 2 levels in fighter but only seems to lose 1 initiator level. Where does the initiator level come from when the original build takes its second fighter level?

On the other hand I could also take the second fighter level going for Swordsage 1fighter 2Swordsage+4/Master of the nine1 and take two weapon fighting early on at level two or three.

Your initiator level for any Martial Adept class is equal to your levels in that class, plus 1/2 of all your other levels. So a swordsage 2/Fighter 2 has an IL of 2 (SS) + 1 (Fighter 2 /2) = 3. A Fighter 20 has an IL of 10.

Ah thank you. It was something I probably missed while reading TOB.

I just noticed that the build uses a class thats very dependant on DEX alongside WIS but doesn't include weapon finesse to take advantages of such high scores.
So I will be taking an additional fighter level and grab that extra feat.
