For the CO board I offer up a creative challenge, how do I make a Chronomancer? First though, to try to define what a Chronomancer looks like:

A Character specializing in time magic and effects

A Character who either interacts or manipulates time to some significant degree

The source of his powers (Arcane, Divine, or Psionic) doesn’t matter, so long as they fit the theme.

Questions:

Does it have to be a caster?
It doesn’t have to be, so long as your build has some skills or abilities that fit the theme.

What can be used?
Any 3.5 WotC D&D source, with the exception of Dragon

I need an early night tonight, so I'm not posting anything useful, other than a promise that I will look into this and WHOLEHEARTEDLY endorse the coolness of this idea.

Later.

There's that Zerth Cenobite PrC from Complete Psionics that lets a monk mess with time quite a bit.

I've had a few ideas of my own:

Cleric 20, with Time as one of his domains
Wizard x/Fatespinner 4
Psychic Warrior - On some levels he makes space-time his *****

Could use some work and more optimizing, but Celerity is heckishly abusable.

Is Arcane Thesis part of the Incantarix class? I don't know where it's from if it's not.

Arcane thesis is a Feat from PHB2. You choose one spell and each metamagic feats applied to this spell subtracts 1 spell level used to cast it.

I combined the Benefit of this feat with Practical Metamagic and Incantarix's level 10 ability.

I would add Disintegrate to this list. It is basically speeding up the object to decay. And you could also add the summon spells to the list (pulling beasts through time to fight for you)

Though both these ideas are more interpurtaion (sp) than anything.

If we're using that the character can conjure objects from spacetime then we should also add the creation spells too.

I don't like the summoning and creation aspect... the connection seems too, as stated, interpreted.

Now, I think the spell list is on the right track, but obviously we need more spells, psionic powers, etc. There isn't enough to be done with Truenaming, Shadowmagic, or Binding, nor does Incarnum seem to have enough emphasis on time.

Also... PrCs. My guess is that a good bet will end up being a Cerebremancer.

Arcane Spells (we should get 'em all)

Accelerated Movement
Nerveskitter
Slow Burn
Unluck
Anticipate Teleportation (and Greater)
Spell Matrix (and Greater)
True Strike
Haste
Slow
Freedom of Movement
Contingency
Moment of Prescience
Foresight
Time Stop
Imprisonment
Slay Living
Expeditious Retreat
Time Hop
Dimension Door
Gentle Repose
Permenancy
Legend Lore
Celerity
Greater Celerity
Teleport Through Time
Disintegrate
Alter Fortune
Dimension Step

Powers

Precognition chain
Deceleration
Recall Agony
Danger Sense
Time Hop
Freedom of Movement
Psionic Contingency
Suspend Life
Temporal Acceleration
Recall Death
Timeless Body
Burst
Mass Time Hop
Hustle
Precognition
Deja Vu
Second Chance

Some of the Psionic Powers are Discipline specific, I think to get them all you'd have to play an Erudite.

Is there a way to get 9th level arcane spells and 9th level powers in one build?

Some PrCs

Casters

Divine Oracle
Fatespinner

Non-Casters

Zerth Cenobite
Elocator

Any others?

This raises a few questions before I try a build.

Is there any way other than Monk to get the Still Mind class feaure?
Is there any way to get both 9th level powers and 9th level spells in one build?

Archivist from Heroes of Horror gets 'em.

Ardent Psychic Theurge with Practiced Manifester. That's the only way excepting Beholder Mage abuse.

Ahhh!!! MAD

Well, it might be the only way to do it with a caster based build. There aren't enough spells or powers on their own unless you combine psionics and spells.

For non-casters, you could do something with both the Elocator and Zerth.

I can't beleive no one's mentioned Time Regression! Coolest time controlling ability IMO.

I once used it to hilarious effect and the extreme displeasure of my DM by buying a ton of Power Stones of it (to ignore its xp cost. My use psionic device was ridiculously high :) ) and rewinding every time he landed a hit on me.

Is this a Psionic Power? I may have missed it.

Would Wiz 3/Ardent 2/Cerebremancer 10/Fatespinner 4/Mindbender 1 grant ninth level Powers if I took Practiced Manifester twice?
_J_

You can't take Practiced manifester for the same class twice.

Wizard 3/Ardent 3/Cerebremancer 10/Arcane PrC 4 with Practiced manifester does give you 9th level spells and powers, though.

Edit: There are also the 9th level arcane spell Teleport through time (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/pg/20030409b) and the epic feat Create time portal (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/pg/20030416b) that fit this time travelling concept perfectly.

Don't forget there's a handful of spells in phb2/SC; halt comes to mind immediately.

Ok...

Using the Enhanced Awareness Diviner variant from UA:

Elan

Div 1 (Scribe Scroll, Improved Initiative)
Div 2
Ardent 1 (Practiced Manifester)
Div 3
Ardent 2
Ardent 3 (Psionic Meditation)
Cerebremancer 1
Cerebremancer 2
Cerebremancer 3 (Elan Retainment)
Cerebremancer 4
Cerebremancer 5
Cerebremancer 6 (Extend Power)
Cerebremancer 7
Cerebremancer 8
Cerebremancer 9 (Delay Power)
Cerebremancer 10
Fatespinner 1
Fatespinner 2 (Extend Spell)
Fatespinner 3
Fatespinner 4

How about something like that?

He can cast all the spells and manifest all the powers on that list, and has the meta-feats to manipulate how they are cast/manifested. He's an Elan... time is something he has plenty of.

Not powerful, but its one way to do it.

You mentioned Divine Oracle and that's got me thinking about the divine side of the magic options. Let me get some sleep before I start putting together a time based divine spell list.
