CA Mindbender? [Archive] - Wizards Community

It doesn't seem to stack up too well to the Psionic Thrallherd, though in truth they are rather different classes (ignoring the fact that RAW Thrallherd gives you an infinite army of cannon-fodder).

The half caster progression is such a pain. Is it offset by the 4x charm monster? The answer is "probably not," but I'm always curious for opinions.

11-18-04, 01:52 AM The thing is your trading levels for enchantment. Once you've surround yourself with minions its great. Also add to the charms for the PrC the charms you can cast from the spell caster class. This PrC is not a combat class and completely relies on its enslaved minions. The gerat part is the charm ability works and any living with in the size limit. That means monstrous humanoids, the younger dragons, animals, etc. Push the Weak mind works the same way. Mindread is a waste. Most things you'd want to mindread would make that save. Although the Telepathy isn't bad. I'm trying a Bard/Mind Bender for my groups next evil campaign. Great skills with Diplomacy, Bluff, Intimated. I could get most combatants quaking in fear before I even start charming them. For combat I just had a thought, after the first hit play dead with Bluff. This should give your minions time to move in and help.

Remember if things aren't going good charm your way into the enemies. They won't kill you if your their friend. :D

I like this class. You also get Dominate Monster(a 9th level spell-like) at level 12, and make it permenant at level 15. I'm not sure if it is truely powerful or not. I see it interesting and want to try it.

To qualify this class early, one have to either be:
Human Sor5 with dragon feat(Red) and with 16+ Int(massive cross-class skillpoint usage) (18Int for non-human)
Human Sor 6 with 12+ Int(14 int for non-human)
Human Wiz 6 with 12+ Int(14 int for non-human)
Warlock 6 with non-stupid Int(i.e. 10+)

11-19-04, 03:01 PM If you're not good it looks good for cherry picking. No onerous requirements and 1st level gives you telepathy as well as +1 caster level.

11-19-04, 04:19 PM Two good saves. Skill boost kicks in at level 2. It grants 1/2 caster level bonus to Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate and Sense Motive.
