DragonChildX 04-29-06, 11:18 AM	Im thinking of creating a bad guy that is a lich Druid Master Of Many Forms! It Would Be Druid 7 Master Of Many Forms 10 +4 for lich! Only thing is he has to be able to create a phylactery. But my question to you is is it possible. In the SRD it simply states Each lich must make its own phylactery, which requires the Craft Wondrous Item feat. The character must be able to cast spells and have a caster level of 11th or higher. The phylactery costs 120,000 gp and 4,800 XP to create and has a caster level equal to that of its creator at the time of creation. So if I was a 7th level druid, Took feats to increase my caster level can I accomplish this?
Pinky's brain 04-29-06, 11:32 AM	Sure, all he needs is practiced spellcaster. He wouldn't even need the craft wondrous item feat (one of his flunkies could have it, and they could use cooperative item creation).

Thanks to the errata to wild shape, you wouldn't even lose all those nice immunities you get from being undead, although you lose turn resistance and all the immunities you get from the lich template when wild shaped, as they are extraordinary special qualities. Andall you need is Practiced spellcaster (CArc) to get that caster level. And when you have your phylactery made, pay a psion to use Psychic reformation to change the feat to something more useful, as you only need the high caster level while making your phylactery :D
Caelic 04-29-06, 12:13 PM	Technically...very technically...this is true. It is, however, pretty extreme rules-lawyering to take advantage of a loophole (the fact that Wild Shape is no longer based on Polymorph.) If you want to be fair about it, take Corrupted Wild Shape, from Libris Mortis--the feat exists to allow undead to Wild Shape.

Caelic 04-29-06, 01:06 PM	I honestly don't think you can, by the rules--templates really need to remain a no-go. As soon as templates are allowed, changing shape becomes monstrously broken again. The feat I mentioned and the Undead Wild Shape ability of the Blighter both allow specific templates, and I think that's as good as it gets.

Caelic 04-29-06, 01:10 PM	There's not just one undead template; there are a lot of them. The problem with opening up templates in general is that there's no reason not to stack each and every non-HD-increasing template onto the base critter. Non-HD-increasing templates, by the by, include both the epic Paragon and Pseudonatural templates. Alternate Form functions like Polymorph except for the listed exceptions; no such exception is listed for taking templated critters. If you want templates, afraid you're limited to specific class abilities that grant them.
Surreal 04-29-06, 01:13 PM	As we've mentioned two or three times already, the corrupted wildshape feat allows an undead creature to wildshape. Per the new errata, you keep your original type when you wildshape, thus you keep all your undead immunities etc. That's pretty much what you're asking for isn't it? The blighter undead wildshape lets you apply the skeleton template to your wildshape forms. edit: d'oh, Caelic beat me to it.
DragonChildX 04-29-06, 01:30 PM	Well yes im looking for the immuities and such but the question and I apologize for not clarifying it properly was if their was a feat that allowed you to take a undead shape like a drgon with the skelital template. Obviously their doesnt seem to be without taking a class. Thats fine. Just kinda weird how a lich can grow skin in his new form LOL
