Can't make NarD work like it's supposed to! [Archive] - Wizards Community

Conjurer 7/ Nar Demonbinder 7

Because:
A- Starting ECL is 14.
B- I want to bind a pit fiend as soon as possible.

I have grandoise visions of throwing down that silver sign, calling ol' Beezelblurb, and demanding he devastate the army approaching (err.. in 10 minutes) me. NarD, with it's handy class features, gives me all the bonuses I need to make it happen.

Stats would look something like this: (After points)
10, 13, 16, 18, 7, 20

Equipment of note would look like:
Cloak of charisma +6
Ioun stone of caster level +1

The real crappy part is what do I do from there?
All I can come up with is either an arcane schooling feat and dragon disciple, or taking a ritual of vitality to turn into something with neat racial hit die. Maybe something from Complete Arcane? Mine's still on it's way.

My suspicion is, I made NarD work exactly like it's supposed to, it's just setup to abandon you for six levels. I don't wanna, but I may have to delay my happiness and go ex-pal 2/Blackguard 10/NarD 7/x1 Help me CharOp forum, you're my only hope.

Oh yeah... all books available. And the party won't likely have another arcanist, maybe a psion.

the trick with ND is to get into without 7 levels of a full casterclass. get your 4th-level spells somehow with a class that gives something useful on top. like divine crusader, nentyar hunter or a secondary casterclass.

if you play a wizard from 1 to 7 there is no real reason not to continue, a wizard14 is better in almost everything compared to a ND with a wizard-base.

Conjurer 7/NarD 7 is just woeful, you say, and I suppose I should accept it. Well, any other PrC's out there that can get me a pit fiend at 14?

Sigh..
I guess I'll just join the ranks of wiz5/Incantar10/AM5's.

no, i dont. but you have no future with the build as your casting abilities are crippled here and have no future there.
if you tack ND on a melee-build you get interesting options and its most viable use are double- to quadruple threat builds (search helps).

if you want to play a summoner a druid is an excellent choice, you could also take a look at the 3.5 sorcerer thread where i made a sorcerer-based summoner that is quite effective.

playing a standard-wizard-build is also nothing bad, your power comes from spell selection and, at most, creative use of them, one doesnt have to feel guilty only because its the standard base-build over here.

if you want to use something new go with the veil-class from CA for example or the great Ardent Dilletante from the planar handbook.

If you're not adverse to using 3.0e Dragon mag material, there is the perfect PrC for a Conjurer 7/ND 7.
From issue 280, the Eldritch master (one of my favorite PrCs) would work perfectly. Conjurer 7/ND 7/EM 6 provides spelcasting advancement and some decent metamagic feats as well.

Another great from 280 is the Swarm form spell.

Thanks for the idea, catharz, I'll try to get my hand on that Dragon.

And I think I'll restate the question, in a more awesome way.
What's an optimized build with all seven levels of the NarD class look like? No spellsword or arcane trickster or any of that nonsense. I'm looking for the class abilities and would like one of two things:
A- A cap for wiz7/NarD7/xx6.
B- Or anything else that has the full NarD run. I wanna bind a pit fiend, durnit, and nothing's going to stop me!

For example, Optimize exPal-2 / Blackguard-10 / NarDemonbinder-7 / xx-1.
The feat crunch is all reqs. Big turnoff.
1- Education
H- Iron Will
3- Power Attack
6- Cleave
9- Imp. Sunder
12- SF: Conjuration
Just 15 and 18 for Combat Brute, Divine Might, Arcane Strike. And these key feats come too late. bah.

xx-5 / NeyntarHunter-4 / NarDemonbinder-7 / xx-4
that's a little more doable, but your caster level is horrendous. Can Sublime Chord help with this? Can NarD qualify for it?

I'm really not trying to compete with wizard 14, I know that can kick my butt. My eyes are on the goal: The pit fiend.
