| Qflash06-01-04, 11:30 AM | My Dm has allowed me to bring down ECL from +4 to +3 by giving away 1 of my shad abilities from following: 1)Fast heal 2) Shadow Jump 3)Spell resistance what should i give up? I am currently a rogue/ninja type... |
| Qflash06-01-04, 12:03 PM | c'mon, what would you get rid of....to go to ECL+3 |
| Diabolic Doppelganger06-01-04, 12:24 PM | Although I hate saying this, I would probably give up spell resistance, as there are items that mimic the ability. You need fast healing, as your Hit Points will be low, and Shadow Jump is PARAMOUNT to any build that does not have a sure way to escape (although, I may just be a paranoid player). Just my 2 copper pieces :). |
| catharz06-01-04, 12:27 PM | Shade isn't worth it even at LA+3 with all abilities. |

| catharz06-01-04, 01:00 PM | Originally posted by Fwib Would you say that it is worth +4 in a campaign set within the plane of shadow? (shade abilities virtually always on) +3 or +4, depending on the power of the campaign. Oh, and the official LA is now +5, not +4 =P |
| Qflash06-01-04, 01:12 PM | why did they bring the ecl up so high? they stink... I started playing it at ecl 2 and then the DM saw the update and made me increase everything.... now i am a nobody in my party... I have to find a way to bring it down to +3 and be fair |
| Fwib06-01-04, 01:27 PM | Originally posted by catharz +3 or +4, depending on the power of the campaign. Oh, and the official LA is now +5, not +4 =P Yeah, but the GM decided +5 was too high. And since the whole party are Shade Humans (also DM decision) the LA doesnt really matter, as everyone is the same. |
| Laelenie06-01-04, 02:03 PM | I'd say Spell resistance if non cleric fast heal if cleric |
| VanRiper06-01-04, 03:24 PM | With the control light ability of the shade, the shadow jump is too good to get rid of - as others have said. If you foresee this campaign ending in the low to medium levels - I would say pass on the SR. If it will go to high and epic - then pass on the fast healing. The point here is that at such high levels, creatures cause so much damage that the fast healing is not going to save you, whereas the SR may. As an aside, check out the quicken spell-like ability feat from the BOVD. That could help with some things. |
| Qflash06-02-04, 10:54 AM | Van Riper, I agree with you on the healing assessment! I'm at 14 ecl right now! so the damage has been up there..while spell res. have proven so helpful. |
