| Satrek04-23-08, 06:32 AM | I stumbled across this layer of the Abyss in the appendix of FC1:Hordes of the Abyss. I don't own that many supplements, so I'm wondering what this "mad god" is all about, and whether there is any information on him/her/it avaliable - and, of course, where to find it. Background is that I'm looking for a powerful creature trying to break through some planes, causing a little havoc on the side. My guess was that an imprisoned god might be both powerful as well as impeeded as far as his travelling is concerned. |

However, he is not in the Abyss, but in some special prison plane designed specifically to contain him (which gives everyone a scope on to how dangerous this guy is that he had to be isolated from the other cosmic villains out there). I do recall in FC I that there is a well in the Abyss where some powerful demons were locked up by the current Demon Lords for being too dangerous even for them. There was one with an odd name who was known for being a god killer and a menace to all planes, thus they locked him in the well. |

Diirinka and Diinkarazan ventured into the caverns of the illithid god Ilsensine together to steal the knowledge with which they could create a race of their own. When Ilsensine itself showed up in all of its green-brained glory, Diirinka stabbed his brother in the back and fled with what he had stole while Diinkarazan was cursed by Ilsensine and bound to a stone chair in a layer of the Abyss filled with uncontrollable bursts of water, fire, wind, and earth, to suffer terrible hallucinations forever in punishment for trying to steal from the god of the mind flayers. Every fifty years or so, Diinkarazan becomes sane enough to send an avatar to derro communities and wreak havoc in vengeance for his brother's betrayal. But he's still pretty crazy. Sources: Monster Mythology and Planes of Chaos, which is where Fiendish Codex I took it from. |

FWIW, Tharizdun's prison plane is the so-called Demiplane of Imprisonment, drifting within the depths of the deep ethereal. It was written up in Dragon magazine #353. |
