| Kinghappo08-09-07, 06:49 AM | Greetings, I am working on creating a campaign where there's an artifact that was created by a greater god who's sole purpose was to effect life, it has the abitity to sustain those who have died as living spirits, it has the power to ressurect, and it has the power to enstill mortality upon anything (though using any of these abilities merges the artifact with the one who uses it and requires sacrifice of that individual in order for it to be recreated). I plan on one of my player's to use this way down the line to give the god's mortality (thus making them killable) now with a concept like this (still an epic campaign) how would that work mechanic wise? would that reduce all divine levels to like 1 or would it just be a special clause that they can die if their hp falls to -10? what is everyone's take on this concept? |

Well assuming you have stats for the gods I would say just remove the sailent divine abilities and divine ranks. |

Like Thegans said, you should probably just remove all their divine ranks and salient divine abilities, but keep everything else the same. Also, I think gods can still die from combat like normal people, but that might only be possible by other gods so that might be moot:P |
| Millennium08-10-07, 10:31 AM | Honestly, it all just depends on how you want it to work. Do you want this weapon to result in a deity that happens to be killable, or do you want an ordinary mortal? If you want a killable god, then just insert a special clause that says the deity can be killed if reduced to -10 HP or whatever threshold you think is appropriate. You should also have this clause cancel out the effects of the Rejuvenation SDA, if the deity has that. If you want an ordinary mortal, then just strip away the deity's Divine Rank stat and everything that goes with it. The result will be a mortal: a powerful one, but a mortal nonetheless. |
| randalthor08-24-07, 02:46 PM | Yeah, just take away their deity status, like Divine Rank, salient abiliteis, Domains, but leave them with their char. levls. so that they are at least hard to kill. This sounds an awful lot like God of War 2 for PS2. I suggest playing because you might get some good ideas from it. |
| vegetalss408-24-07, 03:22 PM | may i suggest that the artifact can also regive the god its immortallity. and i would say let it take away the divine rank and the DSA |
| Legdiwena08-29-07, 07:17 PM | Gods can be killed already, can't they? |
| vegetalss409-02-07, 05:48 AM | Gods can be killed already, can't they? that is up for the dm to deside, But i think most would say yes. |
| Biolyticclod09-02-07, 12:30 PM | I agree with the majority. To make the god mortal would be to strip it from its divine rank and DSA... Although it would make it more difficult for your players to take down a god that although mortal (in a sense) the god retains his DSA and rank with the exception of the Immortality... Depending on the DSA the god has such as rejuvination or even a fast heal ability it just make the god harder to kill, still a god per se (as he retains he godly powers), but ultimately a supremely power mortal who can die. |
