So I was thinking about the Water domain. Its domain power is turning fire creatures and rebuking water creatures. Useful for a campaign with a lot of element-based enemies, sure, but what about one with nothing from the Elemental Plane of whatever?

"What's your cool ability?"
"Oh, I can control a creature that's never existed on this plane and nobody ever runs into."
"Wimp."

The Plant domain... who runs across plant creatures anyways? The Sun's domain power is rather useless in an undead-light game. (Heh, Firefox spell check doesn't think that "undead" is a word.) For War, Weapon Focus might not be needed if you're a multiclass fighter/cleric. And there's probably more domains that aren't in the SRD.

So, what would work for alternate domain powers? Something that'd be at about the same power level in an "average" D&D game (you know, where if it's in a Monster Manual, you'll fight it eventually).

EDIT: And also (put here because I didn't want to start a new thread), what would be an acceptable substitute for Nightmare as the Darkness domain's 7th level spell for a non-evil deity? I mean, there's already a Repose domain as a substitute for Death, so it's not like there's no precedent.
