Arson - Divine Warlock [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-23-07, 02:10 PM I'm making a Warlock deity named Arson the Fire Crime for our homebrew world.
Unfortunetely, I've come to the realization that a Warlock god's Divine Blast will almost certianly outshine his Eldritch Blast.

So, I'd like help creating a divine salient ability for Warlocks. It needs to be something that will make his Eldritch Blast a viable weapon even though his Divine Blast will likely deal more damage. However, I'm not exactly sure what the mechanics should be.

Some ideas include:
> Increasing the die size for damage
> Making the blast a supernatural or extroardinary abiltiy
> Increasing the blast range (or Eldritch Spear range) to be equal to 1 mile per divine rank
> Be able to cast in medium and/or heavy armor (Warlocks can only safely cast in light armor)
> Be able to make multiple blasts in a round, possibly based on BAB.
> Simply having Divine Blast qualify as your Eldritch Blast for the purposes of eldritch shaping and other augmentations (this may be overpowering even though Divine Blast has limited use per day)

If anyone already has a premade Warlock Salient ability (or something that would be useful to a Warlock god), feel free to post it.

how did i know that arson coming to deity hood would cause trooble? and why not just keep the eld. blast as it is, use it against your non dietal foes, who will probably be many with all the people arson has ****** off in the past.

your going to have a metric ton of mass divine blasts, enough to take on many deities anyway, and besides, i thought arson had good charisma? ((despite his butt ugly apearence.))

Oh come on, I haven't ticked off that many countries, and most of them don't exist anymore, anyway.

Also, I'm looking for constructive help with my god of destruction, so none of our usual nonsense is allowed until I get some answers. :p

I do have good Charisma. And I am not ugly. I'm sure there are lots of ladies who find my vicious snarl and abrasive personality to be quite charming.....it worked for Zith, right?

Theres a dude named the Fire Crime? I've seen a few episodes, but I've never seen a character similar to mine in name or appearance.

07-24-07, 12:05 PM I think its unbalanced to allow you to do more than one divine blast in a round. If you get to do it, so do the rest of us. This was yet another thing our group of "old school" DMs ruled on, but they don't play anymore.

In any event, the rest of your suggestions sound good. :)

The Gung-Ho Guns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gung-Ho_Guns) have a naming convention which is similar to yours.

Hey, ladies like a lot of abstract and nonsensical traits that do nothing but get in the way of actually contributing to modern society in men. Look at Jim Morrison.
It worked for Darth Vader didn't it? I mean before his whole emo "I have no arms and legs and my wife is dead woe is me!" trip.
