What are his domains? Also, why is he more of a Minotaur deity than a Goat/Satyr deity? Baphomet has always had a goat head, not a bull.

DnD's Baphomet has always had the bull motif and minotaurs thing going for him, versus some real world traditions which depict baphomet as having a goat head (though this goat headed tradition was historically late compared to say the accusations of the templar trials in France which had "baphomet" as an idol crafted from a human head or a silver plated skull).

DnD's baphomet is really his own creature entirely, as opposed to being purely based on the numerous real world traditions.

What about his domains?

IIRC, he's a cosmic power/fiendish exemplar, implying an absence of worshipers and no domains.

Well, what I've found, he has quite a following of minotaur and the like.

What about his domains?

Depends on the source, but Faiths & Pantheons lists his granted domains as: Animal, Chaos, Evil, Hatred, Retribution

Fiendish Codex I listed them as: Chaos, Evil, Fury, Strength

Dragon magazine #341 listed them as: Chaos, Evil, Strength, and Bestial.

A lot of the demons that serve Baphomet are goatlike. He's the patron of minotaurs rather than satyrs because satyrs aren't generally chaotic evil, but any chaotic evil satyrs would probably worship him as well.

See also the goat demons from Ghostwalk, which fit Baphy better but are attributed to Orcus (he's the big evil in the setting.)

This reminds me of when I bought the dragon issue with him in it merely in the hope of a proper representation of him (he figures into my religion in a big way, for me, but less so for others...)... he was still more bull than goat, and seemed rather dim... I was quite disappointed... wrote a letter, but it never got published...

edit: just figured out why it never got published... I sent to the wrong email address... to that of some random fundamentlaist I was probably either messing with or correcting...

One can't very well construct a single 'proper' iteration of the mythical "Baphomet", as there is no definitive, extant documentation for it.

Neither the etymology, nor the precise origin, can be pinpointed through research; it may well have been a syncretism after the fact. The first appearance on the historical record was in relevance to the the inquisition of the "Knights Templar" lot of the middle ages period, but not more than speculation.

In D&D iteration is primarily geared towards minotaurs, who, being reflective of their master, are "dim".

So when getting down to it, there is not a firm rationale for seeking or postulating a 'true' or 'proper' representation of a nebulous concept for which no definite or historical precedant exists, especially not in the context of D&D for fun, which is already conglomeration of mythical concepts syncretized for fun.

Actually Bapho is pretty bright, he even has hisself a Tower o' Science...I think he built it after watching Army of Darkness and figured he could beat his enemies with some of that sciencey stuff.
