| Lankaster01-21-08, 04:34 PM | At last, my efforts on creating the statistics block for the following entity have come to fruition. I have to give my special thanks to the Dicefreaks for their rules concerning Divine Entities, though I have altered them slightly. The following entity is the Overpower who fathered the Dread Realms of the Mists, also known as Ravenloft. This is my take on the subject, not something official, just to make things clear. But every DM who aspouses what follows is free to use the material and info I provide for their personal campaigns, if they so desire. Well, here goes: Zalakhiel, Overgod of Darkness of Heart, Guardian of Fate. Divine Rank: 28 Alignment: Neutral Evil HD: 120d8 + 8400 + 3360 (12720 hp) Abilities: Str 100, Dex 70, Con 80, Int 70, Wis 80, Cha 90. AC: 259 (20 + 30 Dex + 35 Insight + 40 Deflection +78 Natural + 56 Divine) Touch: 181; Flat-Footed: 259. Saves: Fort +195, Ref +190, Will +195. Attack: Apocalypsis +195 [28d6 + 149 (19-20/x2)]. [Always deals maximum damage (317damage)]. Full Attack: Apocalypsis +195 (x28). Virtual Levels: Usually, Zalakhiel has 12 levels as a Fighter, 2 as a Blackguard, 104 as a Sorcerer, and 2 as a Legendary Dreadnaught. Any powers he derives from his classes that have a limited usage per day such as his Sorcerer spells are virtually unlimited, since he can take a standard action to choose different Levels, Feats, Epic Feats, Ability Scores, and Salient Divine Abilities, and then re-choose them in the following round, thus replenishing his daily allotment. Special Qualities: Divine Immunities, Immunity to Fire, Cold, Electricity, Acid, Sonic, Negative Energy. DR 100/Major Artifact Crafted from the synergy of at least of 28 Greater Gods of Exalted Status, wielded by the hands of an Exalted character, infused with the power of Light from all the Upper Planes, and bathed in the waters of River Oceanus at its base, Thalasia, for 33 consecutive days. Fast Healing 240, Regeneration 120 (Same as Damage Reduction), SR 208, Speed 2800 feet [fly 5600 feet (Perfect)]. Initiative: +38, Always First. Portfolio: Zalakhiel is the Paragon of Vileness, Darkness both actual and spiritual, and Fate. He represents the inevitable end that will one day reach the unlimited parallel universes and plunge them into Darkness eternal. The Misty Realm of Ravenloft is but the beginning of the realisation of his words. He has no compassion for any living being, regardless of alignment, and will strive to smother any spark of life and hope from their hearts. He does not want to rule them or destroy them; eternal suffering and spiritual decomposition is his desire. Despair, dread, fear... All these do nothing but empower his very definition and existence upon the Cosmos, thus enabling him to influence the flow of events (though in a subtle way only). Potential: No records exist that state the power level of this entity, though it is widely assumed that it is his will that bars the exit from the Dread Realms, and it is believed that he can deny exit even to gods, though this has not been confirmed yet. He is estimated to possess unimaginable power due to his position as the Guardian of Fate, yet it seems that he is quite interested in seeing how things will turn out on their own. He possesses the power to grant and strip the Divine Spark of gods at will, as well as being completely omnipotent against non-Overgods of any stature. In his realm, he enjoys the full benefits of his position as the Guardian of Fate, making him a very formidable opponent even for other Overpowers, and he is a supreme spellcaster in terms of knowledge; any spell ever created falls into his repertoire, and he can sense the creation of spells currently unknown to him up to 28 years before they are created. Salient Divine Abilities:Avatar, Divine Splendor, Possess Mortal, Divine Shield, Area Divine Shield, Increased Spell Resistance (x3), Extra Energy Immunity (Acid), Extra Energy Immunity (Sonic), Divine Fast Healing (x5), Divine Celerity, Free Move, Instant Move, Instant Counterspell, Divine Spellcasting, Divine Battle Mastery, Divine Weapon Mastery, Divine Weapon Focus (Apocalypsis), Battlesense, Clearsight, Divine Weapon Specialization (Apocalypsis), Annihilating Strike, Divine Recall (Sins), Know Secrets, Know Death, Lay Curse, Lay Quest, Divine Inspiration (Dread), Indomitable Strength, Irresistible Blows, Sunder and Disjoin, Gift of Life, Hand of Death, Life and Death, Mass Life and Death, Divine Blast, Mass Divine Blast, Increased Damage Reduction, Supreme Damage Reduction, See Magic, Automatic Metamagic (Quicken Spell-like Abilities), Supreme Initiative, True Knowledge, Supreme Eldritch Knowledge, True Shapechange, Craft Artifact, Alter Reality, Undead Mastery, Divine Glibness, Divine Creation, Master Crafter, Create Object, Create Greater Object, Alter Form, Shift Form, Alter Size, Shapechange, Automatic Metamagic (Quicken Sorcerer Spells), Divine Dodge. I know it seems strange to have so many SLAs, but Overgods can select them in place of normal and/or Epic Feats. And now, for the best part. Overgod Salient Divine Abilities: Guardian of Fate, Cosmic Blast, Sin Harvester, Paragon of Darkness, Misty Veil of Darkness, Divine Supremacy. Guardian of Fate: Zalakhiel is the one responsible for keeping things in check, and for allowing that which is destined to happen, occur. Whenever he is personally involved in a specific matter such as a battle (which is very unlikely), he gains the following benefit: While within his senses (28000 miles radius), any event that occurs by chance (such as an attack) and falls short to the likes of Zalakhiel, he can use a free action and change the result by disrupting the flow of events and taking complete control over reality itself. I.e., if a Paladin smites and Power Attacks a Vampire and rolls a 20, Zalakhiel can change it and treat the result as a 1. Note that he can also use this power even for his own actions (such as a rank check, though in that case he simply rerolls his check and keeps the highest result). He can use this power up to 28 times per round, and it counts against his 50 free actions per round (which also include casting a spell or spell-like ability). Cosmic Blast: Zalakhiel reserves this power for those towns, cities, kingdoms, and even worlds that, according to Fate, are meant to cease be. This is identical to the Divine Blast, except that it targets up to all those inhabiting a whole plane of existence. Treat it as a Ranged Touch attack with a +156 bonus and it deals 816 points of damage, or 1632 on a critical hit. This is the omen that precedes the downfall of worlds that have come by and it is time for new worlds to rise. Sin Harvester: Zalakhiel delights in sowing the seeds of corruption in every single soul. So, when the time of a person is up (always according to Fate or Zalakhiel, if he is also involved), that person must succeed at a DC 176 Will Save (a natural 20 is not a success), or else their souls are crushed and drained of all light, becoming empty husks of dread emotions, and join the stream of endless darkness that emanates from Zalakhiel. An Exalted Character possessing at least one Exalted Feat can treat a natural 20 as a Success, and he or she also gains a cumulative +1 bonus on this save for every Exalted Feat he or she possesses above the first. Only Epic Spells that grant an Exalted bonus on saves can aid in this save, and even then they only apply half of their benefit (rounded down). This is the Harvest of Sins that Zalakhiel strives for, and every soul so consumed is a victory to him, and an endless doom to the soul, as it is forever lost. Only trully vile characters are subject to this ability; others may be subject to it upon their death through natural causes, and only if they are of Evil alignment. Paragon of Darkness: Alignment matters not to Zalakhiel, and he is above such petty issues. He knows that every soul hides a seed of Darkness within, and he is granted the power to enforce the embrace of this dark truth from all of creation. Should Zalakhiel be subject to an opposed check, such as a Strength check, he can add his opponent`s relevant ability score to his own and determine his new modifier for this check only. Misty Veil of Darkness: Zalakhiel is one with the mists of Ravenloft. He is the so called "Dark Powers" after all. They act as a location from which his senses can extend, and via them he can peer into any other world. It was his aid via the mists that enabled Vecna to enter the City of Doors and bring havoc, forever disrupting the balance and causing permanent damage in favor of Darkness and Evil. Zalakhiel excercises ultimate command over the Mists in terms of separating each Darklord`s Domain, keeping "visitors" to the Dread Realms from escaping, and is also the one who has allowed a Deity called Ezra to perform an amount of extraordinary feats via the Mists of Ravenloft, so that it takes him less time to file order and stability in the Realms, and also remain hidden; it is Ezra who has come to be known as the Lady of the Mists, and her position is most convenient to him. Divine Supremacy: Zalakhiel`s status as Overgod places him far above all of Creation. As an Ultimate Fundamental Overdeity, he is free to excercise his authority in terms of who advances to godhood and who is deprived of it, always by taking his portfolio into consideration. He is free to perform this feat in Ravenloft, but anywhere else it requires his strict and objective adherance to the fundamental principles of the Multiverse to be able to excercise his power on this aspect. In case he is present at a specific crystal sphere that already has a ruler such as Toril, Zalakhiel is obliged to recieve approval by negotiating with that sphere`s Overpower, in this case, Ao. Zalakhiel is completely invulnerable to any attempt to cause harm upon him if it was intended from a mortal or a god. Only Overpowers are excluded from this trait. I know it is somewhat incomplete, but I have a strong base to work from here. I hope you guys like it. It is not an attempt to impress via numbers, but to grant these beings known as Overgods a reputation they deserve, as being the ultimate supervisors of all Creation. If you have any suggestions or opinions concerning the subject, please do tell me, I wish to hear you out. |
| Lankaster01-28-08, 05:09 PM | Next, we have some special powers that Overgods have in common, and that Zalakhiel also has in his repertoire. Here are one of them. I kindly request that you share any thoughts concerning such abilities, as this is a free discussion of the subject. Spellcasting: All Overgods have the potential to cast an unlimited number of Epic Spells per day, either Arcane or Divine in nature, and they automatically succeed at a Spellcraft check with a DC of up to the Overgod`s Divine Rank * Hit Dice (3360 DC for Zalakhiel). However, other Overgods are automatically immune to these spells; they can be affected though by Epic Spells crafted with the usual, well-known way presented in Epic Level Handbook (in case an Overgod casts the spell, that is). |
| PrinceOfTheVoid01-28-08, 05:47 PM | Did you know that they have a new set of Overgod rules on Dicefreaks? Complete wtih something like 30 Salient Overgod Abilities up to Divine Rank 50? Also, over in the Monster forums, I recently had RangarokIsComing2007 stat up one of the 3 overgods of my setting for me, using the new DF rules. Near the bottom of page 3, name's Baalzoth. You can't really miss his stat block, its enormous. http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=963079&page=3 And just for help, here's the Dicefreaks Link: about halfway down http://projectdf.phpbbnow.com/viewtopic.php?t=1051 That's only a few, I think, but they help Its nice to see someone seriously attempting to stat up Overgods. Nice job |

Initiative: +38, Always First. -what is Apocalypsis? -what does it look like? -virtual class levels seem confusing. Could you rewrite it? -the DR is...new, but you should probably describe it below, so that there is not so much in the SQ section. that way it will be easier to read. He can use this power up to 28 times per round, and it counts against his 50 free actions per round (which also include casting a spell or spell-like ability). So what you are saying is that he can make an attacker's roll a 1 without a save as a free action? You may have to reword this. So, who exactly is targeted by this ability, the whole plane? OK, you said it only affects evil creatures, though earlier you said a creature gets a bonus for having exalted feats. Only good characters can recieve exalted feats. Please write this over so people can understand it. Paragon of Darkness: Alignment matters not to Zalakhiel, and he is above such petty issues. He knows that every soul hides a seed of Darkness within, and he is granted the power to enforce the embrace of this dark truth from all of creation. Should Zalakhiel be subject to an opposed check, such as a Strength check, he can add his opponent`s relevant ability score to his own and determine his new modifier for this check only. so what does their alignment have to do with anything? What does this do? So what you are saying is that only overpwers can hurt it? You have a long way to go before this is finished, but this should help you at least keep it organized and easy to read.
