Does this forum disappear after 4e comes out? Should I save the stuff I want to preserve now?

thanks,

I wouldn't think so. There's too much 3E content that people use here. IMO, what will probably end up happening is that everything will be kept in the same place, but the more prominent boards on the front of the D&D boards page will be for 4E.

Won't be taken down, but merged.

The D&D forum is a general one...

You still might want to save everything just in case. This may be a better question for the RPG Boards Business.

-I agree. The 4e forums are mostly for comments/criticisms/speculation/etc. Once it actually comes out, those boards will probably disappear, and all 4e conversation will merge with all 3e conversation on the general boards. I bet WotC will open a new section dedicated to 3e gaming (as in rules and such), though.

Speculation on the matter isn't likely to help a lot if WotC decides that giving 3e holdouts their own boards is hurting sales and deletes the entire lot. While I can't imagine them doing that, it wouldn't hurt to get an official answer for the issue.

Wow, you can't see them doing that? I can see that happening easily to be honest. Guess worshipping St. Cuthbert makes you extra gullible. ;) See, we children Apomps are ever ready to distrust, because we remember *everything*.

Perhaps I should qualify the statement with "without any warning". I don't think that one day you would wake up and find the entire mass of 3e topics gone without a trace. I'm sure that they would say something like, 'you have 24 hours to save any of your stupid lame 3e crap before we throw it away'

And while you children of the Foul One may mock the true servants of the Cudgel, the fact that you are all burning in Hell (or freezing or drowning, depending on which layer) is a source of never ending comfort to the only true Church.

And no, I didn't mean Carceri. Hell would be defined as 'not with St. Cuthbert.'

Kain, does Darwin live with St. Cuthbert? Trying to find out what my options are, here.

The man seemed to display remarkable common sense, so it is possible. No promises though.

-Given that their promotional strategy with 4e is to bash 3e, I bet they'd say it like that, too.

Geez, why don't you people understand the 30 years of beloved magazines that introduced many of us to D&D in the first place means NOTHING? That devils and demons never made sense except for the brief window of time in which Wizards released the Fiendish Codexes....and the BoVD...and the Monster Manuals...

That 4e is better in everway...except for Elder Evils and whatever products they'll be releasing until then...those are the only good part of 3e left...

The marketting group is lousy, i will admit it.
But they wouldn't do a thing like forbidding 3,x discussions. At worse, the general here, the specious at older editions... a big 3,X subset.

I means, WOTC is tolerating hundreds of recent edition(s) bashers around. If they are the evil corpo, Shadowrun-style, as they are always presented, they are really, really bad at it. lousy silenting job, even letting Wizos being friendly to them at times. And a guy like me would be a forum lead.

(BTW, a serie of the last products are made to be compactible... or at least more edition neutral. And they are cool enough to grant the guys who will stay 3.5 the last scheduled books - you should remember it's not every company who do this and not just cancelt what remains.)

-Why would they not release more 3.5 books before the release of 4e? 4e has been in development for some time now. It's not as if this is some surprise that is getting the best of everyone here. It's been scheduled to be implemented in the Summer of '08.

The marketing campaign is terrible. Probably run by St. Cuthbert worshippers I suspect...

He endorses common sense. This marketing comes straight from Hell.
