Complete Divine [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-21-07, 02:53 PM With Christmas coming up I was thinking of asking for this book and I have two questions.

1.) Is it good enough to spend the money on.
2.) Is it worth it with the impeding release of 4e.

12-21-07, 04:05 PM 2.) 4th Ed. will be published in summer and it's probably about a year more before there's a significant number of new splatbooks. Also 4th Ed. seems to be a distinctly different game with other goals and concepts. Chances are good it's not a system for you/your group.

1.) Unfortunately, I think not. I think it's the most less usefull of the complete books.

12-22-07, 01:43 PM Most of the spells in it were reprinted in Spell Compendium.

The Prestige Classes in it will be obsolete come 4th Edition (barring reimagining as "Paths")

The information on the major Greyhawkian churches is somewhat replaced by Complete Champion's take on them.

However, if you don't have Spell Compendium or Complete Champion, and don't plan to get 4th Edition, it's a great buy!

but the more i hear about it the more that excitement is starting to fade
but not enough yet to outright dread its release

12-22-07, 10:28 PM The book is solidly "meh". The favored soul is cool and the shujenja is interesting, but the spirit shaman is rubbish. There are a couple of really good PrC's (radiant servant, ur-priest) but they are mostly uninspiring. The feats are either boring or broken and what was with those relic items, eh? Wow, who thought that was a good idea? All the spells have been reprinted in the Spell Compendium.

Honestly, get any other complete book before you get this one. Except Complete Psionic. Or Champion.

12-25-07, 01:24 AM apart from the deity descriptions, there isnt a whole lot to the book. Like the count said FS and the Shujenja(sp?) were neat and there are maybe 2 or 3 good PrC's, all spells in spell compendium, and all data printed elsewhere....i only bought it because i was comissioned into playing 3 games as healer so i got it for some variety, however i have yet to play any of the classes either PC or PrC, but i hear the FS is some nice dm pi$$!ng off material...but really youre better off with anything else with the exception of complete psionic....
