| Dominyk_Half_Elven03-21-07, 05:42 PM | I'm designing a new campaign setting but I'm not to good at creating anything lawful good. So I'm looking for Ideas. Backgrouds, stats, divine abilities, anything. *Of course this is for a new deity. |
| Janusunaj03-21-07, 06:21 PM | Power of White Magic: The lawful good arcane deity has True Knowledge for all good aligned magic, as well as divine spell casting. |
| Orchomenos03-23-07, 08:33 AM | The Queen of Justice: This new goddess was a mortal paladin. In the most recent war between the Good and Evil gods, the old Lawful Good Gods suffered many casualties, due both to their evil counterpart cruelty and their own corruption. Seeing the celestial forces in disarray, the Queen of Justice gathered many mortal forces, and in a heedless charge, drove the Evil Horde away. Despite her Lawful alignment, she began to review and discard old traditions she deemed pointless and archaic. That behavior, along with some other actions, (including the promotion of The Redeemed One), is very unpopular in the clergy of the old gods; but these olds priest have very few power to oppose her. The Redeemed One: This beast is a former Chaotic Evil god of Slaughter and Destruction. Caught alive by the Queen of Justice, she offered to spare his life if he turned against his former allies. He accepted. He firstly sought to take revenge on former allies who wronged him in the past, slaughtering them in is usual gory ways. But he grew accustomed to the Queen of Justice's respect and friendship, and to cultivate it, he polished his methods. He gained a large amount of worshippers during the Queen of Justice heedless battle, many knights admiring his prowesses and ferocity. But many worshippers were disgusted to learn his true identity. Though he kept a respectable base of worship amongst the knights in the first line against evil forces, and amongst true repentants who seek to redeem themselves. The Fir-God: This entity is thought to be as old as the multiverse itself. At first simply a Fir tree, he was one of the first Treant (Ent) of the Fir subrace. He developped a deep love to all small animals and birds who came in his canopy to seek shelter against predators. He was an Elder Treant, living in the Forest of Arborea, when a sentient people of riverside residents started to worship him, gaining the knowledge to build solid dams and tame wild waters. They kept on praising the eveness of his branches (for those who don't know, fir tree have multitude layers of branches coming in group of 4, at 90' of each other). The Fir-God is reputed to live simultaneously in many Outer Planes, including Arborea, Elysum, and Mount Celestia; some say his avatar is growing on the exact top of the Mountain. His Avatars have deep and solid roots ensuring his stability; as a result, they are unable to walk. They can teleport anywhere in the multiverse, but only once a day. As a result, he often send bird messengers to the creatures he wishes to talk to. |

Mythology Far back in a time before written language and civilization the god of life and death (Noescia) watched over the mortal realm. He was filled with turmoil and unrest as he could not decide who truly deserved life and who deserved death. He put himself into a deep trance during the age when dragon, elves, and the other longer living races were being created; when he awoke he was no longer one deity but two. Yaral meaning “up high” was a compassionate deity who was charged with life and the protection of it. Undosia meaning “from beneath the lands” was cruel deity who was charged with death and the destruction of life. When they became aware, Undosia snuffed out the lives belonging to creatures of the longer lived races (such as elves, dwarves, etc.). This act immediately forever determining their natural lives for future generations (up until then they had been immortal). Outraged Yaral attacked Undosia and an epic battle took place that split the underworld from the heavens. Behind the Curtain – Life & Death These two deities have almost identical stats, levels, and characteristics (though powers, spells, and feats are vastly different). This is because at one time they were the same being, an Over Deity (21+ deific ranks) named Noescia meaning “benevolence” in an obscure and long dead ancient language. These two continually clash with one another throughout the planes of existence. Undosia has agents who try to keep clerics and wizards from resurrecting the dead. They believe death is the natural course and must not be opposed (they see it as defying their lord). Yaral however sees natural life as the right of all sentient mortal beings and they should live (until they die of natural causes or old age). Her clerics and agents work to resurrect dead heroes and protect souls from the dread scythe of Undosia. Often times however Undosia wins and puts his magic ward on the souls of the recently dead (usually epic heroes who are worthy of his notice). There was a time this stopped Yaral entirely but in her studies and trials she created the spell Reincarnation, which provides a loophole that Undosia is not happy about at all. While there is nothing Undosia can do per se about reincarnation, it hasn’t stopped him from doubling his efforts against powerful mortals who try to return to life. Optional Rule Any epic character who someone is trying to use resurrection on now only has a 1-20% chance in raising the dead character, even if the soul of that person wishes to return. Any epic character who someone is trying to use true resurrection on now only has a 1-50% chance in raising the dead character, even if the soul of that person wishes to return. For either true resurrection or resurrection, the % decreases by 10% for every day that passes after the intended target’s death. Thus making long dead epic character impossible to resurrect. *Note none of this has anything to do with non epic characters that die, as the spells should work normally on them. This is because Undosia deems them unworthy of his acknowledgement due to how weak they seem. This makes the Reincarnate spell the only real way of returning any epic character to life. |
