The module we're playing states (and the players were aware of things being that way):"Mortal creatures that die on Yggdrasil are claimed by the battle maidens called valkyries (Deities and Demigods 200) and can only be raised or resurrected with a spell granted by a Norse deity". The player would like to continue playing the character and I am a bit unsure on how to go about it. There's a few ways the game could go now, from a simple business transaction with a cleric of an appropriate deity to a more involved side-quest. If for example, the valkyries were to physically pick up the dead character, the others would then have to face traveling to Ysgard to reclaim the item their last adventure was about. How do valkyries normally go about selecting the einherjar and if they also claim those who are not destined to become einherjar, what becomes of the others? Is there perhaps anything on the topic in any of the old Planescape books or the like? For the record, the character in question is of neutral alignment, but you could say she died bravely. I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter. cheers |
