As background - I am running a "high epic" game where the characters are transforming into immortals, and eventually Demi-gods. They are plane hoping around via different adventures and have interacted with a few Powers from their home plane of Greyhawk. They all have 'sponors' and range from true neutral to Lawful Good - so no 'evil' leanings.

What I was wondering is how you think other powers from different pantheons might receive this group? Lets say they show up on Mt. Olympus, or in the Halls of Valhala, or in the Seven Heavens? They have effectively left mortal status behind, and are on the verge of being Demi-gods (they all have local, small followers already). Because they are being invited into the Greyhawk pantheon, will that effect how other "powers" view them or interact with them?

I am planning on having them travel to several 'exotic' locations in the planes, and possibly meeting powers, avatars, representatives of those planes. If they were very powerful epic mortals I have an idea how the powers would react to them, but they have passed that point and are, or will be by then, near or actual demi-gods themselves. Thoughts?

I have a few ideas/suggestions. First, do you have access to Deities and Demigods? There are some sections in the book that I think you might find helpful. Especially the Meeting a God under Roleplaying a God. They don't have to be used only on Gods but the idea is the same. Many of the Gods and powerful beings would treat the immortals differently. Some would treat them with minor respect, some would loathe them, some would think them small and unimportant whereas others would find great use in them.

I suggest looking at which Gods and powerful figures you want to include then just think what these beings would think of (immortal) mortals. Yes they are well liked but most of the truely immortal creatures have been that way for countless centuries and might not like a new game in town. Others might see change as a good thing, inspiring fresh blood into the pantheon. I think its all a matter of How you want to run things. If you want it to be an uphill battle then maybe their road to ascension would involve taking away worshippers from more powerful beings. Maybe they are doing it under the nose of greater beings, flying under the radar.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but it really depends on how you see the party, the campaign, the pantheon and the planes. It really depends on your DMing style and your party. Others may have better suggestions or may be able to say what I rambled about better.

It would depend heavily on the how and why of their apotheosis.

Does your campaign setting assume infinite divine power, or will the existing pantheon be diminished or otherwise disrupted by these new arrivals?

Is the process of divine ascension simply a by-product of acquiring sufficient power and prestige as a mortal? If so, are there any current gods who achieved their status in a similar way? Such beings would be excellent mentors or allies to the PCs.

Are the deities that are "sponsoring" the PCs doing so to advance some sort of agenda? Will their deific rivals stand idly by and allow this to occur?

Are the gods basically independent and indifferent to the situation, or will the newly-ascended PCs be entering into a completely new level of inter-planar intrigue, possibly becoming pawns in the machinations of beings that have thousands of years more experience then they do?

These are only a few of the questions you will need to answer before thrusting your PCs into the divine sandbox.

Thanks for the info. It gives me something to think about, and work on.
