I asked this question at the RPGA and they said it's up to the DM. So, I am checking what you guys think on this.

If a cleric (or favored soul or paladin etc) that gains ability from a patron deity, what happens when the cleric (or whatever class) becomes a deity himself? Does the patron deity still grant him spells (a greater deity granting spells to lesser one)? What happens if the cleric-turned deity becomes equal or higher rank deity than his patron?

Ideas, keep them coming...

My first impression would be that the cleric would become a general in the service of his God although I'm sure that would depend on how the cleric became a God.

If it was a direct action of the cleric's God, then I'm sure that the God had chosen the cleric for service.

However, if the God was not responsible for the cleric's divinity, there may very well be "bad blood" between them for the manner in which the divinity was achieved.

I see two possibilities. Either the cleric-god gets is spells from himself or from the cosmic/faith energies he has access, now that he is a god.

Goldmark is right on the money. The Cleric/Favoured Soul/Druid/Whatever now grants spells to himself or the particular cosmic entity that represents his ideals grants him the power.

Gods do not grant spells to eachother, unless of course the DM chooses to houserule it.

Would the cleric-turned god then has the same domains as his old patron?

Generally, no. If they share the same alignment/outlook, they may share very common domains like the Good or War domains, but usually their portfolios cover slightly different areas. There can't be two dieties of the same thing, unless they are covering different aspects of that thing.
For example, you could have a LG Battle god and a CE Battle god, because they are covering very different aspects of war. However, you can't have two NG deities of Light, Healing, and undead slaying, because they are competing for the same worshipers and domains (well, you could have two, at the DM's discretion. Perhaps one of them is a greater god while the other one is a Lesser deity). Unless a Cleric intends to kill his deity (which could radically shift his alignment) he should probably have at least slight differences in his portfolio upon ascending.
