| sin shai, nagai jedi01-16-08, 02:34 AM | hello all, this may very well be a dumb question caused by my lack of DnD books but, i was wondering how divine ranks works, how one would gain a rank, and if there are already clearly (or not so clearly) defined rules on god-hood, what book(s) is it in? |

The rules first appeared in the book Deities and Demigods (which has a 3.5 update (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/DnD35_Deities_and_Demigods.zip)). To gain a Divine Rank, you either have to be born with one (in which case you probably start out at DvR 0), get an existing deity to name you as a Proxy (which gives you DvR 1 until the deity decides to withdraw that portion of its power), or fulfill whatever criteria your DM sets for ascending to godhood (which may involve completing an epic quest, forming a cult around yourself, or killing an existing deity and siphoning power from its corpse, or it may even be impossible). |
