| StarFyre06-01-07, 09:01 PM | Hello :) I have somewhat of a convulted question ... I have been thinking of the long term for the campaign I DM..and where I want it to go, before we start fresh with a new characters...this assumes the whole party doesn't die ....and that they want to continue beyond levels 25 to 30..which i assume 25 to 30 is possibly where they may want to end and start over). ANyways..been looking at stuff I want to do..stuff i want to makeup myself, and premade stuff I want to modify (to remove all the excessive combat and add more "roleplaying" and exploration into them), and then also increase the challenge of the combats (I am not totally happy with some of the higher level content in 3.5E and instead choose to modify stuff by adding powers back from 2E, etc as I see fit). IN much of the modifications, I am keeping the bosses, etc the same and the themes, but changing the stuff in between and adding more options to make them open-ended...however, the end result in some of them will still be climactic battles.. I have been considering the chance my players may want them all or one ofthem to attain atleast a low amount of divine ranks...however, i define that as possible in our campaign. As well, been looking at the dicefreaks lords of hell and demonlords, and other than descriptions, the powers, etc I prefer for them in my campaign IF players decide they want to go that high (maybe i'll lower them a bit)...not asmodeus though, as i use the 2e planescape cosmology , but that's another story. Due to their high CRs...the issue with divine characters arise again.... My question is, with such plans...i am having a problem with my scoping. Divine Ranks...even if you update the dieties and demigods to 3.5E....there are no challenge ratings for the gods. Now, due to changes I would make to them anyways (for gods, they could create a lot more matter at a time than the measly amounts they are restricted too)..but anyways, how does one figure out the challenge rating of beings with Divine Ranks? Dicefreaks has dealt in a similar fashion with them: a deity can only be permanently killed while in its divine realm, and even then, a rank check is required. Here are the CR increases we use - although they may depend on using the revised deity rules we have, which differ only slightly from the official ones (as to make them fit better with epic level play). Divine Rank -- Challenge Rating Increase 0 -- +3 1-5 -- 4 + 1/4 DvR + 1/6 SDAs 6-10 -- 4 + 1/4 DvR + 1/3 SDAs 11-15 -- 4 + 1/4 DvR + 1/2 SDAs 16-20 -- 4 + 1/4 DvR + 2/3 SDAs |
