| Frater_9503-20-07, 11:12 PM | A friend and I are working out a religious dogma for a temple of Hextor. Basically, we've concluded on six core Principles for the faith. Is there anything like this out there already? Any besides the basic blurbs you get on wikipedia, in the Deities and Demigods, et al? So far we've got Obedience, Loyalty, and Justice, we want three more, with actual elaborations. "Obedience: You will abide your superiors, and your subordinates, you." "Loyalty: You will always strive to do well by your masters, that you may benefit from their glory." "Justice: The Law is for all, violations of the Law sow Chaos. You will not allow the Law to go unavenged." |

| Return of the Flumph03-23-07, 12:25 AM | Courage All obstacles are defeatable by following the way of Hextor; fear nothing of this world, for your aid comes from the next. Faith Hextor is the single, most important thing in existence; let not a moment pass without Him in your thoughts. Determination Let not fear, compassion, mercy, or desire obstruct your carrying out of Hextor's divine will. |

We've got something along the lines of strength, also. The trick is, for plot purposes, we want the Principles to not mention a specific deity, let alone Hextor, to through off the PCs. The monastery will be almost exclusively LN, including the High Priest of the group. I think we're calling it the Temple of the Iron Fist |

Stand strong beside truth, so you may cast Chaos from your soul. Courtesy - You will honour and respect those above you and they shall honour and respect you in turn according to your station. Integrity - The iron of your faith, dedication, and discipline are your strongest weapons. Let not an inch of them rust or go neglected, lest the whole break apart. Self Control - True strength comes through patience and hard work. Do not be tempted by shortcuts to greatness nor drawn into undisciplined revelry. Perseverance - No matter what the challenges or trials that lie in front of you, you will meet them with your head strong upon your shoulders, looking them in the eye. Indomitable Spirit - Though a sword, arrow, or claw may pierce your body, remember always that your Will can never be defeated by any enemy. Know this, and banish fear and doubt from your heart. I did not come up with this list, but I did come up with the interpretations. The list is a commonly used list of values promoted in actual martial schools, with some variation of course. I think it works best for Knights and Monks. |
