| Daydreamer03-14-07, 01:03 AM | Is there any 'evidence' that they might in fact exist to be found in any official suppliments. Also what about the dieties the dragons of eberron worship. I know that in Secrets of Sarlona one can fight an aspect of tiamut, that implies tiamut at least exists. |
| Loki565403-14-07, 01:17 AM | A follower of the Host would say "If you need proof of the Host's existence, simply look around you. Onatar is the flame of the forge and all it creates. Dol Arrah is the light that shines and inspires you. Dol Dorn is the strength of your arms, but also that of your convictions. What more proof do you need?" As for the Draconic deities, they are worshipped in Eberron (mainly by the dragons of Argonessen). They are also the names of prominent constellations. Some believe they are just reinterpretations of the Host, others say its the other way around. But, like all gods in the Eberron setting, there is no concrete proof of their existence beyond the faith of their followers. The only two faiths (that I'm aware of) that come close to having "proof" of existence are the Silver Flame and the Undying Court. For more accurate information, I suggest finding a copy of Faiths of Eberron. |

| Fabius Maximus03-14-07, 08:01 AM | What about the Blood of Vol? Only very few members of the Cult know of Vol's existence, so it doesn't count. |
| Ohtar Turinson03-14-07, 09:48 AM | The blood of Vol does not worship Vol. They worship the strength in blood, the power to perservere and overcome death. They feel that the gods are traitors who leave their followers to languish on Dollurh. They follow Vol because the Undead are powerful champions of the Blood, not because she's of the line of Vol (Before the fall of house Vol, the religion was, I believe, called The Path of Blood). |
| ArcTan03-14-07, 09:55 AM | Is there any 'evidence' that they might in fact exist to be found in any official suppliments. How come every time people see something in an official book that says it's supposed to remain an unsolved mystery, they come to the boards and ask the regulars to solve it for them? Statting up the Lady of Pain, deciding on the reality of the Eberron deities, figuring out the true nature of the Ravenloft Dark Powers... sheesh. |
| ArcTan03-14-07, 09:59 AM | FWIW, the strongest evidence for the existence of any religion's gods is its survival -- the fact that large numbers of people are drawn to the same belief system and gain mystic power from it, often groups of people with little or no connection to each other. The fact that the elves, the drow, the humans, the goblinoids and so on all worship a bevy of gods with some very important features in common -- the elven deity of knowledge has a name ("Ourinos" or something) very similar to the humans' Aureon, and a symbology and set of rituals that matches closely -- gives rise to the idea that there's some inner reality to the gods that various world religions just copy. Similarly, even though the Silver Flame worships a specific object with a specific history -- the bound souls of Tira Miron the paladin, the couatl, and the demon in Flamekeep -- they believe, with some evidence behind it, that the "Silver Flame" refers to a universal binding force that the couatl have used against all the demons of the First Age, of which the literal Flame is just a manifestation, and this force is the basic force of good in the world holding back the demons. Just as the Blood of Vol, if they know of Erandis d'Vol, see her as simply the foremost example of those individuals who have managed to harness the Divine Within. Etc. |

Presumably because they might be basing a campaign around this question and are trying to avoid contradicting any official RAW. Or are looking for possible inspiration from that RAW. Even the interpretations of 'psuedo evidence' that ppl provide on the boards can provide insight. |
