| Rohano04-29-08, 05:00 PM | Eleron Loreshon Demigod (Chaotic Good) Long the rival of Corellon Larethian, Eleron Loreshon is the patron of elven hermits, Shoren elves, and rangers. Legends tell that Eleron, who loved Corellon Larethian as a brother, taught Corellon to plant trees in the infancy of the universe, but these tales are widely ignored. It is more commonly believed that he is merely the guardian of Elebrin Liothiel's gardens. He is known as the Hermit among the Seldarine, though he is often consulted in interspecies and interpantheon matters. Since the First War, Eleron has quietly defended the Seldarine from One-Eye, though Corellon gets more approbation for his thunderous battles. When the Seldarine were each creating a subrace of Corellon's high elves, Eleron was hesitant. He did not want to create his own followers from the earth, he preferred to avoid excess responsibilities that mortals would bring, but when the elves first encountered the orcs, everything changed. Elves died; Corellon was enraged and demanded assistance in protecting the progeny of the Seldarine. Eleron culled silence from a secluded glade and created the Shoren, the Silent Elves (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1025185). From the other gods, such as Garl Glittergold and Yondalla, Eleron learned that the earth is a great ally. From Moradin, he learned of tactics and fortifications. The Shoren represented all that he had learned. As the Hermit, Eleron silently creates traps for foes of the Seldarine, and passes his techniques down to his worshippers. Symbol: A quiver with two arrows, each fletched differently Portfolio: Shoren, nature, vigilance Domains: Chaos, Good, Protection, Trickery Cleric Training: Eleron Loreshon's clerics are caregivers of the wild and often successful trappers. Trainees are often tasked with hunting and gathering for the community, while more experienced priests are content to wander and tend to wilderness shrines. All clerics must know the geography of their region and must have atleast basic survival skills. Many have multiclassed as rangers, fewer as druids. Quests: Eleron's dynamic rangers are often found arranging defenses in anticipation for battles against orcs or drow. Quests can be as varied as building elaborate traps for an army of orc marauders, herding all of the local wildlife away from foes, investigating the causes of forest fires, or convincing dwarves to assist in efforts to fill drow-filled caverns with boulders. Prayers: Worshippers' prayers are usually quiet, and usual material in nature, as Eleron prefers that his worshippers never cease their productivity, not even to praise him. Shrines: Eleron has no temples, but his clerics establish shrines on hunting trails and near defensible places to make camp, usually using defunct traps to mark locations or provide guidance. Rites: Worshippers of Eleron Loreshon devote every trap and every slain foe of elvenkind to their patron. Rituals include moments of silence held for elven lives lost during excursions, usually while the elves' temporary graves are arranged. Herald and Allies: A Shoren elf 10th-level ranger/10th-level cleric is Eleron Loreshon's herald on the material plane. His allies are celestial treants, celestial nymphs and half-celestial centaurs. Favored Weapon: Composite Longbow. |

| Rohano05-02-08, 11:42 AM | I've thought about writing more for the Seldarine, but I think this will be all I do for now. I very much hate that Drow are a higher LA than the other subraces, and I think that the gods should so something to even the playing field (every god has adopted a specific subrace, therefore each of them should do something similar to each group of elves... grant them supernatural and spell-like abilities!) if the Drow are going to be just as strong in 4E. But it looks like 4E Drow are going to be balanced with the other races. Darkness and those other abilities will be acquired as the character levels up, just like the other new racial abilities. I've thought about using Corellon's dramatic life for story material for more gods, because he's full of dramaqueenish happenings that could be expanded, but I don't think I want to modify the published gods as much as I want to do "pocket gods" (who can be dropped into any situation without altering much, and who do not fit so well into any story that the core pantheons would be incomplete without them). Anyway, if there's actually a lot of fans of the Seldarine looking for more expansion in material, I'd be happy to come up with another set (god and subrace). |
