Ethergaunt Resources [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-07-07, 07:49 PM Okay, so I need some more resources on the Ethergaunts from the Fiend Folio for an upcoming campaign. They're gonna be the big bads and its going to mostly be a mystery to the player's what has been going on, and I need to flesh out their intent, equipment, and motive.

05-07-07, 08:09 PM Mechalich wrote up a brilliant ecology of the Ethergaunts, however I don't have a link handy. I'll try to find it. It's seriously worth the read (it on its own convinced me to use them in a campaign).

05-08-07, 05:23 PM A strange and terrifying thought has just passed by my mind. What if, and I stress the IF, the Ethergaunts are being manipulated in turn by Tharizdun?

Hopefully I got that name right, big bad baddie that was sealed up in a demi-plane, tends to manipulate the evil archomentals and all that spiel.

Ethergaunts are on a deliberate genocidal path of all Prime existence and religious devotion.

A bit of what is essentially entropy and the weakening of that which has encased Tharizdun so.

Excuse me as I go to bed and start crying, I think I hear the etherguants shifting about.

I'm nervous about their reproductive speed, though. That level of reproductive abilty would mean that nothing could survive them.

05-09-07, 09:11 AM I believe there was an article in one of Dragon's last year issues on the Ecology of the Ethergaunt. I don't have the number off the top of my head though; will have to go digging for it :)

05-13-07, 09:50 AM There's not much in the Folio; there's stats for the three main castes, but not much else. The essay is really good, except they made them too competent (Who needs the fiends? These guys can wipe out mortality just fine).
