| DarkflameX04-15-07, 03:59 AM | say i want my PCs to go to hell in the game im running. later in the campaign they will be faced with hell. however it isnt the main focus of the campaign i dont want them spending all the time there. i only wanted them in the first layer. could i 1)block off the rest by some means 2)separate it from the rest of hell 3)have it rise into the material plane any other ideas? please? |
| Im_Nick04-15-07, 04:15 AM | just don't include an entrance to the other layers in the lay out you give them. |
| Henchcritter04-15-07, 07:19 AM | just don't include an entrance to the other layers in the lay out you give them.Against that, if the really want to explore hell then so be it. I recommant to not give them any reason to futher father downwards. As written hell is not a nice place to be. In short, unless your players have a reason, they'll stay out. You're players character will very likely want to get out and get back into the main setting. |

The path from Avernus to Dis is guarded by Tiamat. That should be sufficient. |

Which hell  There's *start musical number here* Archeron, Baator, Gehenna, Gray Waste, Carceri, Abyss, and Pandamonium! Hmmm.... I really should write out a musical number providing valuable information about the planes. Thank you for the inspiration! :D |
| Witch04-15-07, 05:21 PM | Which hell  There's *start musical number here* Archeron, Baator, Gehenna, Gray Waste, Carceri, Abyss, and Pandamonium! Only Baator is Hell. Bob the Efreet's point is most valid: the only passage to the second layer is guarded by Tiamat. Unless your players want to meet her, they're likely not going there. |

Unless your players want to meet her, they're likely not going there. Hey, Witch. The link for Dicefreaks in your sig is broken. Also, keeping them on the first layer is pretty easy. Just don't give them portals to other layers, as already mentioned. Don't forget to not give them or let them acquire focuses required for plane shifting to other layers of Baator. Hmmm.... I really should write out a musical number providing valuable information about the planes. Depending on what kind of music, I vote for Outland to be a guitar solo, Pandemonium to be a guitar solo that's exclusively playing it wrong so it makes those annoying noises, and Ysgard to be a drum solo. Also, maybe Celestia should be just vocals. Dramatic vocals with each word being held for a long time. |
| Witch04-15-07, 06:04 PM | I'm aware - I'll take it out temporarily, then, so not too many people worry about it :) |
| Rerecros04-15-07, 06:14 PM | :D The Ebberron campain setting has rules on this vary thing. Makes me wounder why anyone still uses the great wheel. |
| DMaster4204-15-07, 06:14 PM | It's because the site is having some technical difficulties. I concur with the idea of meeting Tiamat being enough to scare them off. Or it should be. |
| jamvid04-15-07, 06:34 PM | i want my PCs to go to hell in the game im running. Wow, what did they do to make you that mad? |
| lord_zack04-15-07, 06:35 PM | :D The Ebberron campain setting has rules on this vary thing. Makes me wounder why anyone still uses the great wheel. What do you mean? Ebberon doesn't even have layers. |
| Rerecros04-15-07, 06:41 PM | What do you mean? A cotermigious period with Fernia/Mabar/Xoriat/Risia would fit the OP's plan's fairly well. ps. the great wheel sucks, whose bright idea was it to pigeon the planes into that achocheus alignment system and keep spitting out spat books for it that contain either identical or contradictory information. |

No because he wants his PCs to go to Avernus, but not any otherr layers. Also I disagree with the second. As for the third, that's why I go to Planewalker.com. |

The Op's intention apears to be to introduce a minor evil planar incurence on the prime, and that's what's Ebberron's Planar system is all about. I like the ebberron lovecraftian inspired system better than the great wheel mostly because it doesn't treat feinds in such familiar terms. Fiends were never mortals, they are ancient evil incarnate, something a mortal can never become. Mortal souls are reffuse, Things that were and will never be again, wasting in apathy on dolurgh. |

This obviously shows that he actually wants his players to enter Avernus it's self. Personally I say let them go to lower layers if they want to. Don't make it easy neccesarily, but let them. Having it rise itto the Material Plane wouldn'ty work as they'res not enough room. Avernus goes off into infinity in all directions, except in FC2 which I don't agree with and which contridicts other supplements and the DMG. |

Its Eberron with one bee and two R's *does pirate voice* I do like that idea but the great wheel does make it easier in my opinion. Maybe to fuse the two together... |

Tiamat should guard it fine :) |
| Tarascon04-15-07, 09:45 PM | Dude, Witch, all the Lower Planes are Hell, in a sense. They are afterlifes of punishment. Hence, they are Hell. And to all those people who say 'to Hell with the Wheel!'; You never went through Planescape like I did. I'm just gonna let you turn around and walk away, right now. As a compromise to everything, there is always the Omniverse. |
| DarkflameX04-15-07, 09:53 PM | and for clarification i meant baator. |
