I wonder should WOTC comes out with a random Demon Generator like they did way back when in Dragon magazine....or have a generic demon type with a suite of abilities attached to it, thus one set of stat can cover a whole range of critters. I believe one compay has done this before (they printed monster tokens for the fiends from both WOTC and Green Ronin).

D20 Modern kind of has generic demons/devils. I suggest taking a look at Urban Arcana (I think) for some rules on this.

It's actually in the d20 Modern core rulebook, not Urban Arcana. Which means it's also in the SRD, more specifically here (http://www.12tomidnight.com/d20modernsrd/Creatures.php?Name=Fiends,%20General). And also here (http://www.12tomidnight.com/d20modernsrd/CreaturesResearch.php), sort of, vicariously.

ThomarOfUointer (http://www.kobolds-keep.net/index.html) crafted a Generic Progression (http://www.kobolds-keep.net/Progressions.pdf) for any kind of monster, including outsiders.

Using the D20 Modern book I've made one of my more...odd set of fiends. The one my players have come to fear is the Madness Fiend. Smart, can rage, tendency to warp perspective and spatial dimensions... I gave my players good reason to fear fiends :D

I always thought it odd that Faces of Evil: The Fiends and Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss made such a big deal of "demons are adapted to the layer they come from" but most demons are not clearly "from" one layer and are more Abyss-wide generic.
