The gods in my world are much less powerful than the average deity. They don't get maximums on dice rolls, can be killed the normal way, and have very little power.

I'm going with animism, and wanted a template that I could stick on creatures who ascend. I'm going with a kind of Princess Mononoke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_Mononoke) feel Could you folks possibly take a look and PEACH the CR adjustment?

Thanks :)

GOD
‘God’ is an acquired template that can be applied to any animal or humanoid.
Size and Type: If the base creature is an animal, its size increases by one category, otherwise same. Type changes to outsider (native). Do not recalculate any HD, base saves or base attack bonus due to this change, apart from those changes listed here.
Hit Dice: The base creature’s HD increase by 2.
Initiative: Same, modified by new Dex score.
Speed: Increases by 20 ft.
AC: Natural armour increases by 5.
Attacks: BAB increases by 2.
Damage: One category higher due to Improved Natural Attack.
Special Attacks: Any natural weapons the creature has automatically bypass hardness and damage reduction, can cast any domain spell as a spell-like ability at will (CL = HD).
Special Qualities: Darkvision 60 ft., immunity to taint, DR 10/+1, SR 10 + HD
Base Saves: All increase by 5.
Abilities: If the base creature is an animal, reroll all mental ability scores using 4d6 (as a PC), then modify as follows: Str +18, Dex +6, Con +14, Int +12, Wis +12, Cha +14
Skills: Gains 1 rank in all skills.
Feats: Improved Natural Attack, Improved Initiative
Challenge Rating: +8
Alignment: If the base creature wishes, they may change their alignment as part of ascension.
Advancement: Gods advance normally, usually by character class. Animal gods are able to take class levels.

If the base creature wishes, they may change their alignment as part of ascension.
If you wish you can change your alignment whenever you want, can't you? ;)

But I do not understand, why you allow the creature to change its alignment when it has to remain neutral, as noted unter 'advancement'.

EDIT: changed alignment thing

That aside, do you think the CR is appropriate?

It could be... but with something like this, it depends wildly on the abilities of the base creature. You have to watch with high CR adjustments like this, though, as it leads to a "glass cannon" effect, since they gain all kinds of offensive abilities, but their HD and saves don't increase to compensate. That being said, it certainly doesn't seem out of line for a +8 to the CR. Do you recalculate saves, HP etc. as an outsider? Do the extra 2 HD come as a part of the adjustment or are they figured separately?

That's a good point, thanks for pointing it out. I've gone over the template again now (see the bit about size and type) to make it clearer.

The god doesn't recalculate anything. The change to outsider (native) will just make them immune to some lower level spells.

I had worried about the glass cannon, but with saves going up a lot, spell resistance, natural armour, and a bit of HD, I thought it should be ok.
