| goldomark10-14-07, 09:47 PM | I need a god of Light for a NPC cleric, set in the quasielemental plane of radiance. Well the demi-plane of Green Light, but thats another story. I would prefere a core DnD god, nothing FR or associated with a real world pantheon, like Appolo. Thanks in advance. |
| Artifact10-14-07, 11:17 PM | Player's Handbook, page 108: Pelor, god of the sun is neutral good. His title is the Shinning One. The domains he is associated with are Good, Healing, Strength and Sun. The mace is his favored weapon. This would appear to be an obvious answer, but as you prefer, he is a god in the D&D core rules. If he's too recognizable, you could change the name or even the fluff surrounding Pelor of course; use him more or less a guideline for creating your own ideas. Hope this helps. :) --Art |
| goldomark10-15-07, 12:15 AM | Completely forgot about him! No wonder nobody answer the post. They probably thought I was trolling. Nobody likes him in my game, probably because of the art work of is cleric. Pelor just past under the radar. I guess I could redo him, but I if anyone has a better god to suggest feal free. |
| Artifact10-15-07, 01:07 AM | How about the Faith of the Sun, a montheistic religion described in Deities and Demigods for D&D v.3.0. The deity of this religion, Taiia, is a sun deity with two aspects: she is the Creator and the Destroyer of the Universe. There's also mention in Deities and Demigods of Following the Light, a dualistic religion based on the concepts of light and positive energy (embodied in a deity called Elishar), which is in turn oppossed by darkness and negative energy (emodied in a deity called Toldoth). Check out Chapter 7 "Other Religions" for details on these gods. Before I go, if you're considering a "re-do" of Pelor, check out this thread, The Burning Hate (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=846926), posted on these boards not too long ago. I think its cool because of the conspiracy theories, some serious, others not so much. Might be source of ideas for ya. And last but not least ;), check out Dragon Magazine #346 for an excellent Core Beliefs article on Pelor by Sean K. Reynolds. This also might help with some ideas. You can order back issues from paizo.com if you're interested. Oh, and I didn't think you were trolling (you're gonna have to try harder ;)), although I did wonder if maybe Pelor had slipped your mind. --Art |
| JulesCARV10-15-07, 01:11 AM | Pholtus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pholtus) would work too, although it seems like he's generally potrayed as kind of a jerk. |
| goldomark10-15-07, 02:07 AM | Thanks Artifact and JulesCARV. I didn't want a god associated with the sun, just with light, but its hard to find. The dualistic following the light will be perfect! With a little tweeking... The adventure will be set in a Umbral Verdi, a city who rests on the border between the plane of shadows and the demiplane of green light. I wanted each side to be a reflection of the other. One dark, one bright. Now both sides of the city will worship two opposites of a whole. Perfect :plotting: ! |
| Anubis.c.k10-15-07, 02:02 PM | if you dont want real world ones then RA and hourus are out of window from eygiptian powers |
| vorpo10-17-07, 08:14 PM | I think sun and light are hard to separate in mythologies. |
