| PsychoTron06-11-07, 04:02 PM | Is any one familiar with Heironeous and Hextor's other brother? I seem to remember reading about a third brother who was a neutral god of war and his name was Stratus. My memory fails me and I don't recall where I read this, but I know I did. If any one has any knowledge of such a brother and possible stats, I would be most greatful if you would share said information. |
| Zalakhiel06-11-07, 04:09 PM | Actually his name was Stratis. He was Lawful Neutral and Hextor killed him because he considered him weak. You can learn more at Wikipedia. As far as stats are concerned, I am sorry but I know not a thing that would prove of any assistance to you. :( |
| Orion7206-11-07, 04:17 PM | The death of Stratis was the central event in the Chainmail minis game. You can probably get plenty of info by looking for old Chainmail products. |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-11-07, 07:29 PM | It seems that Stern Alia's offspring really didn't get along. One can only wonder what they were like when they were kids! |
| ripvanwormer06-11-07, 10:10 PM | Actually his name was Stratis. He was Lawful Neutral and Hextor killed him because he considered him weak. No. Stratis was actually killed by a group of mortals. Although he has the same mother as Heironeous and Hextor, the other brothers don't have any role in Stratis' story. |
| Unholy_King06-11-07, 10:32 PM | It seems that Stern Alia's offspring really didn't get along. One can only wonder what they were like when they were kids! According to the Core Beliefs: Hextor in the new Dragon, Hextor and Heironeous got along great as kids. Though it went downhill as they got older. |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-12-07, 01:01 AM | Darn it! Now I need to check my library for that issue! I've been wondering if they'd have time to make an article for Hextor. I'm trying to develop a campaign, and I felt that the duality of those two faiths would be interesting. Plus, I've read the article on Heironeous and I think it's one of the greatest D&D articles I've ever read (though that may just be my pro-Heironean bias:D ). |
| ripvanwormer06-12-07, 01:10 AM | Sibling Rivalry (http://www.greyhawkonline.com/wogcomic/title/wogstrip6.htm) Revenge of the Sith (http://www.greyhawkonline.com/wogcomic/title/wogstrip120a.htm) Hextor Strikes Back (http://www.greyhawkonline.com/wogcomic/title/wogstrip16a.htm) The new Dragon article introduces a heretical myth that Heironeous and Hextor are actually fragments of the same being, who create and sustain the balance of the multiverse through their endless battles. |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-12-07, 01:30 AM | Ahh, WoG. I always enjoy reading those. |
| ripvanwormer06-12-07, 12:42 PM | From Dragon #285: "Five years ago a company of mortal heroes banded together to kill Stratis, the God of War. They believed that by killing Stratis they could win peace for their peoples. They were tragically mistaken. Though the heroes slew the god, Stratis defied his killers in death. As he ascended to the heavens in a pillar of fire, he scattered his panoply across the world. With his dying breath, Stratis proclaimed that there would be nothing but war until a new god ascended to replace him. Now heroes and tyrants struggle to win Stratis's artifacts. It is said that whoever reassembles his panoply will take his place as God of War." |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-12-07, 06:54 PM | This is a rather ignorant question, but what's a panoply? |
| ripvanwormer06-12-07, 09:59 PM | 1. a wide-ranging and impressive array or display: the dazzling panoply of the maharaja's procession; the panoply of European history. 2. a complete suit of armor. 3. a protective covering. 4. full ceremonial attire or paraphernalia; special dress and equipment. From the context, definition 2 and 4: his weapons and armor. |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-13-07, 12:48 AM | Ah. Thank you. |
| turalisj06-13-07, 01:07 AM | According to the Core Beliefs: Hextor in the new Dragon, Hextor and Heironeous got along great as kids. Though it went downhill as they got older. That's what my mom said about me and the borther of mine closest to my age. We were great as kids, but now I don't go a day without giving him a black eye. :D |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-13-07, 01:11 AM | My brother and I are pretty chummy, but we couldn't be more different. I'm kind of fat, and I take walks for exercise. He's a lean, mean fencing machine. I used to play the violin. He plays the bagpipes (yes, the bagpipes). I was captain of the speech team. He's in show choir. And yet there are several things we do have in common, D&D being one of them.:) |
| turalisj06-13-07, 01:18 AM | I have 5 diffrent brothers. Naming off all our diffrences would take a millenia. :P |
| navar10006-13-07, 02:31 AM | Hi, I'm Heironeous. This is my brother Hextor, and this is my other brother Hextor. :P :D |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-13-07, 07:22 PM | Sorry, I don't get the joke. |
| ripvanwormer06-13-07, 07:45 PM | Sorry, I don't get the joke. You have to have watched the sitcom Newhart back in the 1980s or 1950s or whenever that thing was on. Boo, Navar! Get some hipper references! That wasn't funny on Newhart and it's not funny now! |
| navar10006-13-07, 10:06 PM | :evillaugh |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-14-07, 12:10 AM | I wasn't even born until the tail-end of the 80's! I'm one of the youngest guys on the university campus! |
| turalisj06-14-07, 12:48 AM | Yeah.... I wasn't born until '89..... Try something that people with grey hair wont know. :P |
| Zousha_Omenohu06-14-07, 01:29 AM | And all this time I thought I was the youngest person here.... |
| sciborg206-14-07, 02:30 AM | Hi, I'm Heironeous. This is my brother Hextor, and this is my other brother Hextor. :D |
