| Fireclave03-25-07, 04:07 AM | Short Answer: Ask your DM Official Answer: Ask your DM Long Answer: There's only one prestige class that can actually grant you a divine rank. The class is in the draconomicon. You must be a high level true dragon to do it, along with eating your entire hoard. The Deities and Demigods handbook gives many suggestions on how to handle divinity and accession in your campaign, but no actual, official, this-is-how-you-do-it procedure for mortals ascending to divinity. |
| Khael03-25-07, 07:14 AM | As fireclave ponits out, if your DM is against it, you can't. If he is for it, you'll probably have to be epic, and even then it'll likely involve a long ritual, several artifacts, and at least one epic monster. If you're lucky the help of said monster, if unlucky one of its parts (If you wondered why unlucky, it's epic and it probably doesn't want to loose any specific parts of its anatomy). Or of course find and kill a god. The standard view is you might receive that gods rank and power. The downside is well-played lesser gods are going to TPK a level 30-40+ party. Or of course there is the long game. This is without doubt the least risky to carry out, but one of the more risky of working. Bascially you get worshippers. Gather several million worshippers together (and assuming your DM works on the faith creates god power) and in time you should ascent. The only problem is this ascent will probably occur several hundred-thousand years after your death, so you'll need VERY good reason for people to worship you. But still... ultimately it depends on your DM, his idea of godhood etc. |

| Thrask_Whitefire03-25-07, 02:42 PM | ah so its really up to my DM, but is there any guidlines we should follow so its not just homebrew? |
| Khael03-25-07, 03:32 PM | God stats are not homebrew, see the SRD for example for god stats. Becoming a god now... thats all homebrew. The only thing is by rule of thumb it should take serious effort, whether you go by amzaing feat of skill and power (Killing the tarrasque, while it sounds an epic feat in-game (and is, since the characters don't know how hard it is to keep the tarrasque dead, even if the players do) for example, is still not serious enough a feat of skill in my opinion. But I go for: The act(s) should be something epic characters would pee themselves at the ideas of.), or carrying out a grand quest for godhood i.e. finding the lost chalice of heuh'dtruu, the bloodstone of fhyhu'gt and bringing both artifacts to the altar of Aaaaarrrrgggh, to carry out the ritual during which you have to overcome the great guardian by yourself. |
