| IrishRover09-23-07, 11:11 PM | I'm looking for a few ideas on how best to incorporate a succubus into a major city. I have some ideas, but my players and I know each other well enough that I'm looking outside the box, as it were. She is on the run...a minor member of an abyss faction that lost a fight. She's not being actively hunted by the powers of the netherworld...so long as she doesn't make waves. She likes the finer things in life, and so has choosen a respectable sized city to settle in. I'm looking for how she could settle in long term, without arrousing the ire of her neighbors...she's no dummy, and knows that if she's discovered, she may well escape, but might not, also...and being banished to the abyss would be catastrophic. I can see her being a long term contact, rival, friend, ally, or enemy of the PC's...prhaps all at once. She has standard succubus hit dice, plus 4-5 class levels. Due to Blood War experience, they might be fighter, but I'm open to other options...even prestige classes. She HAS to be better in combat than a standard succubus, for later plot reasons. |

To be not detected, she would have to take on a cover identity, but I'm pretty sure she would be above working as a barmaid or doing any other honest work. She would want to have to do little work, but have much luxuries, but not that much that she draws too much attention or would make people suspicious. I think something in the trade-business would be appropiate. Her ability to change her appearance and her high skills at seduction and desception would enable her to get a lot of insider information while most of the work can actually done by an assistant. Occupation as an information broker could make a lot of monney, but that has the tendency to make people suspicious and prying into her business, so that maybe wouldn't be that good an idea. She should try hard to keep her head low, but as a charismatic demon, that might be quite a bit against her nature, so an actually foolproof cover identity might not appear to be completely realistic. |
| The_Shaman09-24-07, 08:26 AM | I think she'd naturally gravitate to shadier pursuits; normally she could play a con artist, assassin (there's no better way to infiltrate a house than being invited) or just be a low-profile golddigger. Given her martial training, I suppose a part-time assassin (perhaps fronting as a duelist or bodyguard, with "special" options included in her contract) would be a likely job. Other than that, if she has more time, she might try to form her own group of thieves or usurp a local guild. For a demon, killing people - especially if done creatively, passionately, painfully and if possible slowly is one of the finer things in life. |
