I'm looking for some feedback on inner planes I created. I'm the friend Courrain mentioned in his thread (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=962425).

I'm not overly impressed with the way the "experts" at D&D handle the plains, even less impressed with what I've seen of their intentions for 4.0 (adding plains of Evil and Chaos to the elements is seriously screwed up).

So I decided to create my own inner planes. ArcTan was very helpful in giving me his thoughts on this. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v630/Indagare/Elements.jpg
Thoughts?

I never liked those quasi-elemental planes, and am thus biased against your cosmology. Even if I wasn't I'd still suggest finding a better axis than "wet/dry."

I've always found the quasi-elemental planes a little strange myself, especially since they don't apply to the para-elemental planes only the main elements. I am open for suggestions.

Always kind of liked the plane of lightning, and the plane of ice - not that the current model of the inner planes is exemplary.

Having said that, nice effort, but the wet / dry model does nothing for me either. But I am all for home brew if it works out for you.

I actually like the concept - i like how you incorporated many of the inner planes in much more logical manner.

Thanks. The wet/dry hot/cold are from Greek thoughts on the nature of matter. They are not absolutely vital to the plains, though they are rather useful as descriptors. I am more curious if the inner arrangement of the elements makes sense.

Thanks. :) I wanted to incorporate as many as possible. Some just didn't work out very well.

I like the progression of your Hot planes, those seem to flow nicely. ...but the plane of permafrost??

I was at a loss of something that would fit well between Ice and Ooze. Permafrost can get quite muddy when warmer but is very icy when colder. All the same, I'm open for suggestions.

The concept of Permafrost is good, it fits really well in the planar progression in that section - maybe just a name change - saying that I'm a loss for suggestions at present.

Thanks. I originally was going to use 'Tundra' but ArcTan reminded me that tundra is an environment much like desert or mountain so Permafrost was better in terms of substance. Arctan had suggested calling it 'Frost' for short but I would be worried that would be mistaken for frozen dew which isn't much like Ooze...

A quick dictionary.com search brings up the term "Pergelisol", a little abstract but it may be a good realm name or fortress name?

Otherwise you've got the the plane of sleet, or permanently frozen soil? Not much going on there really.

Pergelisol would definitely make a good name for a realm or a fortress but I'm less sure it would work well for the plane since I don't think most would know how to say it, let alone what it meant. Permafrost is probably about the best term possible and makes sense, it is as opposite to magma as possible without eliminating the earth aspects.

I think you're right, but it was such a good word it had be mentioned. Thinking it may come in handy in my own campaign.

Any other obscure terms you looking out for?

It was very nice of you to look that up and suggest it, thank you very much. Good luck with your campaign.

I'm not looking for any obscure terms right now (though I love learning new ones) I think you may be in for a pleasant surprise if you look up the two different halves of my user name, though (if you don't know already).

No problem really, just got curious.

I noted your log on, is it a clue to your heritage perhaps (Greek / Japanese), being the "Wild Fox" of Ancient Greece, the uncatchable I believe is what it means. As long as I'm not Laelaps, Zeus won't turn us into stone!

P.S. are you here to punish us for our crimes?

If I were to hint at my heritage I would probably call myself Sleipnir_Liath_Macha or something with similar Germanic and Irish roots. I just happen to like myths from different countries. Though yes, as long as no unavoidable dogs start trying to catch me we'll all be good.

P.S. No, I leave that to my rice-god (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inari_%28mythology%29) serving cousins.
