06-22-07, 12:38 PM I was just wondering, and I know this is an insanely large topic full of debate and other such long paragraphs but I was just wondering at first thought what would be the top ten mysteries of the Dungeons and Dragons world in context of the planes and/or gods. It could be for example who Asmodeus really is or what is on the top layer Celestia. I just need a basis for my campaign to, me being DM, find the “answers” to these. But I would like to know some questions to ask. Thank you for taking your time.

1- What is the queen of chaos plotting in the steaming fen since the fall of the obyriths?

2- After the reckoning Asmodeus deposed GERYON the only archduke that was really loyal to him, why?

Others would include:

-Who'll win the Blood War

-The creators of the Infinite Staircase.

-The creators of the Harmonica in Pandemonium.

-The supposed existence of the Ordial Plane.

-What's deep down there in the Styx and Oceanus.

Not that these need answers. Theories are fines, but we're better off not knowing.

What were the exact events leading to Asmodeuous fall?

If souls are made from positive energy and existed before the gods, what is the purpose of the gods?

Why do the aboleth only have an inteligence score of 15 when they technically have limitless knowledge at birth?

If there a negative energy equivlent of a soul?

What was the first race?

Are the illithid the result of a paradox or will the eventually evolve naturally, if so will these two groups of illithid be in conflict with each other?

Why do aspects of the same being hate each other?

I've always assumed it was because while the others were plotting and conspiring against Asmodeus, which is perfectly lawfull evil things to do, Geryon was actually loyal. Did he truly fit as an Archdevil?

Expanded to Gehenna, really. They're slowly taking over all the lower planes of conflict. Gehreleths on Carceri are slowing operations there.

Ow, in that case my question is wrong, since the answer in te case of expension is covered in the question. So the Loths are actually inhabiting Hades as before, no moving out? I really wonder where I did get that idea then.

They're still the primary native race of the Gray Waste, but their presence and control is more obvious and overt in Gehenna (as befits that plane's touch of law to its flavor of NE). You can't turn around without finding a 'loth in Gehenna, while in the Waste, the plane itself is more desolate and open to reflect its nature.

3e gives the impression that the 'loths up and abandoned the Waste to move to Gehenna, but that's more sloppy wording than anything else.

I think you have the wrong god Ao is an over god. Io is just a greater god of dragons.

He meant Io. One of the myths held by his believers was that Io had created the multiverse.

Prior to 3e, Io's divine status was open for debate as to him being a very powerful but aloof greater god, or an overpower as head of the draconic pantheon.

Because loyalty to Asmodeus was everything Geryon had (in the terms of belief). After Asmodeus betrayed him several times, Geryon lost his faith and thus Asmodeus could devour his soul. Geryon's consiousness now exista in the Outer Darkness as a vestige.

There are a lot of different creation myth. I have Races of the Dragon which mentions that but if Io is an overpower he would not have clerics since they don't grant spells. Also I would imagine that if Io was an overgod dragons would be more like the abominations in that they would have some divine attributes instead of just being oversized and very powerful lizards.

06-27-07, 10:41 AM I have a few burning questions myself. Perhaps they aren't universe shaking, but I bet they get alot of space in the Sigil Tabloids.

1. Does Graz'zt have more children than there are layers of the Abyss? How can he afford his child support with only the control of three layers? Who will be the next child deity to turn up and try to kill him?

2. Now that Anthraxus is no longer the Oinodaemon, did his complexion get better? (see picture in 1st Ed MM II.) No wonder he lost his position, I mean please....get some moisturizer.

3. Will Glasya and Mammon get back together? Everyone wants to know. I mean c'mon, that Fat Bloated Head on a snake body ruling over a layer of dung and stench....what a catch!!!!

Now that Glasya rules a layer, maybe she is looking to upgrade to a better looking guy, go on the lecture circuit on damning souls and ruling a layer, and travelling the planes to adopt children...

4. Who is Zaphikel really? In BoED he looks alot like Professor X of the X-Men, with Angel's wings, and the Professor died in the latest movie, meaning his soul went to heaven!!!

Perhaps Zaphikel is the ascended soul of Charles Xavier!!! His former friend, a Fallen Angelic being, Asmodeus is really the ascended from of Magneto!!! Glasya, the Scarlet Witch!!! It all makes sense now....well, not really. Asmodeus doesn't much look like Magneto....more like Dr. Strange....rats. So much for that theory. Who is Zaphikel really?

5. If you don't hear a tree fall in the Beastlands, did the tree ever fall?

6. Will Cryonax finally realize his dreams of creating the demi-planes of slush and snow under his rule!!! Its been one of the more anticipated Inner Plane plotlines since 1st edition.

7. Will the Yugoloths attempt to start the "Bifrost Bridge for Sale" scheme again with clueless primes?

And finally....

8. Will there ever be a God of Umplebees?
