| DungeonMogrii03-06-07, 09:52 PM | In an upcomming adventure I will have the PC's enter some Ruins on the Outlands that belonged to the predecesors of the Rilmani, but i have no clue as to what might be guarding this place, any ideas? Oh, and i plan to make the PC's return to undo whatever they do in their first run. Actually, I'm still fishing for ideas on what will this place look like, all i have is the fact that in its center there will be an artifact that changes the alignment of a person to the opposite of the one using it (originally it just turned around the targets AL, but its old and malfunctioning). So beyond a library full of mirrors, does anyone arround here have any ideas? |
| Shemeska the Marauder03-06-07, 10:12 PM | The Kamarel were all about isolation and xenophobia, so perhaps the place not be guarded at all, not in the conventional sense. What if the ruins themselves seek to repel and repulse intruders? Something like a genus loci in a way, or just a subtle forbiddence effect, something that saps other alignments in the air or water, perhaps imprisonment effects. "We don't know what he saw there in the ruins. Some curse of the Kamarel perhaps, but he simply withdrew into himself. He was afraid of even basic human interaction, and by the third day it touched him, he'd stopped talking. I don't think he was in pain, I don't think he suffered; in fact I think he felt at peace with himself in a perverse sort of way. The Endura of the Kamarel. But of course, in the end despite our efforts to save him, he wandered off into the Land. It took us two weeks to find him, still sitting and just staring at the spire, withered like a lich from dessication. At some point after he'd run off, he must have stopped eating, because ultimately that was what had happened." |

| Jaerom Darkwind03-07-07, 06:27 PM | Assuming the nerra aren't merely a 3E revamp of the neglected kamerel. |
| DungeonMogrii03-07-07, 06:29 PM | Thanks for the answers, but where can a i find these nerra creatures? |
| Jaerom Darkwind03-07-07, 06:37 PM | The Nerra are in Fiend Folio, IIRC. |
| DungeonMogrii03-08-07, 03:05 PM | Thanks for the Nerra, they will make a fine 3.5 kamerel Now all I need are some mirror-themed monsters and i'll be set |

| Jaerom Darkwind03-10-07, 11:14 AM | The Kamerel as presented in TotIS were given no thought whatsoever. The designer needed a filler race for plot reasons, so they created a race of elfish humanoids with a couple mirror powers, but otherwise statistically indistinguishable from humans. The Kamerel've been in need of a serious revision ever since they were published (and note how they've never been mentioned again). My own fix is a bit different, but since DF is down I can't link you to it. |
| sciborg203-10-07, 01:01 PM | aren't there also mysterious ruins in Chronepsis's realm? Could those be caramel ruins, or do they represent the concept of ruins in a Beware Ozymandius (sp?) sort of way? |

Could those be caramel ruins, or do they represent the concept of ruins in a Beware Ozymandius (sp?) sort of way? Yep, the ruins of a once-great city. I know I've played them up in some of my stuff, but I think they're -as you said- representing the concept of ruins in a historical perspective and Chronepsis as a watcher of history sort of way. |
| sicsemperjohn03-11-07, 10:43 PM | Mmm. Caramel ruins. |
