| Blazanar05-08-07, 07:01 PM | I had a paladin but one factor that came up was that he was an elf....all the elf gods were chaotic so my dm wouldnt let me use him cause i wanted to do a paladin with unicorn mount as an elf..i also wanted to use the chaotic varient also but he wont let us use those to so does anyone have an awnser? |
| Deacon Liadon05-08-07, 08:49 PM | A paladin does not necessarily need to worship a god. He can serve a cause if he wishes, which might be more appropriate if he's an elf. As for the unicorn, I'll point out here that a creature who's alignment is listed as always chaotic good does not have to be always chaotic good. Perhaps your unicorn mount feels the same way about other unicorns as you do about other elves. Talk to your DM and ask him how you can go about making this character. There's no real reason why he shouldn't allow it. |

Sure: Don't have him follow an elven god. Easy solution. (and the elven gods are pretty stupid overall, especially given the lack of alignment variation) |

Not true depending on if they are using a campagin world, such as Forgotten Realms, where he would be required to have a deity. Simple Solution: Follow a different god....? Hard Solution: Prove what a dumbass your DM is. Ask why you can't use Paladin of Freedom. (I use that for the chaotic races, one of my players plays a half-elf/half-orc paladin of freedom of Corelleon). Because guess what: Its not that hard to change a simple rule that has no true bearing on game play. |
| Cernunnos5605-11-07, 08:46 PM | In the WoTC book Unearthed Arcana... there are several variants for the Paladin that can be used if your DM allows. Paladin of Slaughter (for CE characters), Paladin of tyranny (for LE characters) and the Paladin of Freedom (for CG characters). If you don’t want to go for a LG Paladin, and your DM allows it then you can use the Paladin of Freedom variant. Any other questions? Buy the book Unearthed Arcana or search online for the Paladin of Freedom. |
| Rerecros05-11-07, 08:59 PM | your DM is nuts, a paladin does not need to have a lawful good god, Any good or LN one will do. And horses are TN, just as far away as CG unicorns. |
| navar10005-12-07, 02:41 AM | In Forgotten Realms the CG goddess Selune has an order of LG paladins. |
| The Ubbergeek05-13-07, 01:09 PM | In Forgotten Realms the CG goddess Selune has an order of LG paladins. Sun, but she is an exception (Selune had paladins, albeit it's a debated part of the lore). |
