Hello everyone,

Kinda new to being a D&D god, so the rules are a bit shaky to me. Got a few questions, and I would like an optimal god for god's sake. Will be goiing for psionics and magic.

I looked at SRD D20 but was still a bit unclear on the matter.

What does a level 0 god template look like?

What kind of stuff can he get?

What's the best way to optimize him?

What's the best way to optimize him?Well, its not actually a template per say(as in it has no level adjustment). You get the divine ability array to replace your original ability score rolls. The array is 35, 28, 25, 24, 24, 24. When you gain more Divine rank, you will also get a +1 to add to an ability score, of your choice, for each divine rank. You are immortal, so you dont need to eat, sleep, or breathe. You no longer age- which unfortunately means you do not get an increase to your mental scores for getting older. You can't die from natural causes, you can only be slain in magical or physical combat. You are still subject to death from massive damage. You are immune to polymorphing, petrification, energy drain, ability drain, ability damage, mind-affecting effects. You gain your charisma bonus, as deflection, to your AC. You gain power over three cleric domains, and can use every spell in those domains as spell-like abilities, at will. You also have damage reduction 10/ Epic.
I'm not sure, I might have missed something- and I'm sure someone will correct me if I did. I love making deity characters- my dwarf is a greater deity now. He was my first character, and my main reason for playing D&D in the first place :)

I don't know a lot, but here goes. Deities are usually outsiders so you probably transform into one (all exceptions I can think of are undead), and you get a pretty bonus:

Deities receive maximum hit points for each Hit Die.

Your speed should increase to 60ft as a base, if you are a normal medium humanoid, otherwise see the table in the SRD. You do not, however, get domains or the granted spell-like abilities as a level-0 divinity. Sorry.

I did forget those, its been so long since my character was divine rank 0. They also gain alignment subtypes according to their alignment (chaotic good gains the chaotic and good subtypes). I thought you got your domains simply for gaining divine status, but didn't get your domain power (special ability) until you were divine rank 1. I'm going off of Deities & Demigods, and it says the every deity has three domains, "A deity has at least three domains. Deities can have more than three domains if they possess the Extra Domain salient divine ability(pg32)." It also says, "A deity can use any domain spell it can grant as a spell-like ability at will (pg27)." But wait, there's more :) ,"A deity automatically grants spells and domain powers to mortal divine spellcasters who pray to it (pg29)."
I still think that divine rank 0 gets their domains, unless the almighty SRD tells me I'm wrong- most of the time I agree with it, sometimes I don't (just like any other rule). Hero deity status is such a strange place to be in, and its usually over in the blink of an eye. :)

You might want to visit the Epic board (experts on deities and epic rules) and the Character Optimization board (experts on twinking out just about anything).

Actually, I'm pretty sure you need to acquire domains from other gods. You don't just "get" them.
