So, for example, if you were a level 18 Lawful Good cleric, and entered Baatar which is Lawful Evil, you would function as a level 15 cleric for purposes of spellcasting (4 steps around the great wheel=3 level drop). Anyway, my question is, is this rule still around in 3.5? I have been looking around and can't find the rule anywhere in any 3.5 book. Has this rule been scrapped? |

Has this rule been scrapped? Yep, it hasn't been carried forward in 3.x. If you like it, by all means continue to use it though. A lot of the plane specific magical alterations have been watered down except for some slim effects of alignment and a handful of spell school effects, but most of the detailed planar magic alterations haven't been brought into 3e, for better or for worse. I'm of the opinion that it was a great idea in theory, but it seems that it would end up being somewhat awkward when used in an actual game. [But note that I've never played any edition prior to 3e; but I did use the full 2e magic alterations for Carceri in a one-shot game I ran last year]. |

In Planescape 2nd ed., You could not cast a spell in the ethereal plane that required an astral connection (such as Astral Spell), nor could you cast a spell in the astral plane that required an ethereal connection (such as Rope Trick). Was that rule scrapped in 3rd (and 3.5) edition too? |
